Ted Johnson sent me an email about his mail in program from the early 70's. With permission I've added copies of the original documents that talks a little bit about HOMIR's program. This is really cool, imagine what it was like not having the web with instant access of pictures, results and communication from the race host. These guys were the true pioneers of mail in HO drag racing. Thank you so much for sending all of this to me Ted, I'm sure the members of Nitro Slots will get as much enjoyment as I have reading up on HOMIR's history.
"Hi Sam,
I’m Ted Johnson, user name ‘homir’. I owned and operated HO Mail In Racing, “HOMIR”, ¼ mile drag and flying mile, back in the early 70’s. In case you may be interested in some history, I’ve attached a copy of the Rules and Regulations Handbook for HOMIR and two of the Race Report mailers I returned to the participants.
Have a good one…..Ted"

Great nostalgia!! Bookmarked it....I will be reading on this for awhile. Never had any idea that something like this existed back then. Love the Race Report and the Class records. Thank you Ted for sharing this and Sam for posting.

I also never heard of anything like that back then. Looks like they index raced the different classes. I have thought of running an HO index race myself where you set a minimum time the cars can run and if you break out you lose. Like bracket racing but you do not dial in your time, it is pre determined. At some of the 1/1 tracks I ran at they had that type of racing.

Hi Guys. I have another piece of the early 70's history. It's a handbook, 5 1/2" x 8 1/4", published by Auto World containing 68 pages, copyrighted in 1970. It's title is HO racing Speed Secrets, by Jerry Broz. Sorry, I don't see any way to post a few pictures......Ted

Ted,
I'd be interested in checking it out. If you want to send them to my email, I'll get them posted on here.
