IMHO, one of the most important tips is keep your cars clean and oiled. The oil points are simple and are as follows in any chassis. The armature as it goes through the bearing or the chassis. The gears as the touch oil all points. The axles as the go through the chassis or where they snap into the the chassis oil those points. How much oil? Just a drop.
Now let's talk clean. If the copper is tarnished brighten it up. Any electrical point that is tarnished is not conducting as well as it could be. How to clean copper parts up? One simple way is just use an eraser. However it leaves a light residue clean it off. Another way is 500 to 600 grit sandpaper. These are just a couple cheap ways off cleaning the parts. Just my two cents worth good luck with your racing.

Yes, good advice. I also use a small oiling device to put a small drop of oil on any point of friction. Currently use 5-30W synthetic motor oil.

I have been using BSRT synthetic oil in a micro oiler bottle. Allows you to put only the amount of oil needed. When I run out of that I have a lifetime supply of Mobile One synthetic 5/20W (1qt ). Good stuff Eagle!

One thing to look for are bent axles or out of round wheels/tires.I your car bounces down the track, than you may have one of the above. Another thing to look for is binding in the gear train. This can be many things.Warped chassis, gear plate not laying flat on top of the cahssis, gears mismatched,to much magnetic down force with magnet cars gear clamp to tight. What I do with every build is assemble the gear plate to the chassis with gear clamp on and motor installed, magnets and brushes removed. No gears or tires either. With the gear plate clamped to the chassis spin the motor to make sure the motor spins free.Add the center idler gear and spin again. Try another gear. You will be surprised the difference different gears will do.
