I want to build a drag strip. I want to use AFX track & the AW start/finish system. I want to use 2 strips of track side by side so that I can get some separation between the cars when they race. With 2 straight tracks laid side by side i would use the # 1 lane & the # 4 lane. My question;
Has anyone here "frankensteined" the AW christmas tree & finish system to work on a setup like I'm describing? Is it simply a matter of taking it all apart & adding enough wire to make it stretch to fit across 4 lanes or...?
Or, that all being said & done am I just better off buying a routed track? I have about 25'

I have had some of those systems in the past and I imagine you could separate the wiring to the sensors. Several of the racers use 2 tracks side by side with success. The harder part would be to extend the bar across the top of the track and get the start tree in the center of the track. My suggestion would be to get a Slot Dragon system. Then you will have the all important ET and reaction time readouts. The system works well and is far superior to the AW system. 25' is a nice amount of room and you could run a full 1/64 scale 1/4 mile but the shutdown would be short.

There have been a couple of posts here in the past that talked about getting into those systems. Doesn't seem like it should be very difficult and you would have a pretty decent no E.T. system. I ran a double track setup like you are doing for a couple of years before I progressed to my current track. It ran great and consistent! I would recommend fastening each piece of track due to the tendency for them to bow. The Slot Dragon system like Dave mentioned would be a great inexpensive solid timing system if you wanted to upgrade and have ET/RT. Keep us updated on the progress.
