Drag racing legend Bill “Grumpy” Jenkins underwent heart treatment after experiencing a drop in blood pressure on Sunday, and is recovering quick enough to be in Atlanta to help out with Dave Northrop's Pro Stock team. Jake Barbato of Jenkins Competition said, “To set the record straight, Bill did not have heart attack. Bill has had various heart issues over the years, and has taken a variety of prescribed medications under the supervision of a heart specialist while carefully monitoring his heart pressure on his own. “On Sunday, a combination of the medicine caused his heart pressure to drop, and he requested that good friend ‘Jungle Pam' Hardy take him to the hospital. The doctors were quickly able to restore the heart pressure to its normal level, but while they had him there, they decided to do a stint procedure, and also place three balloons inside the arteries to expand the passageways. Bill is doing fine now, and this won't affect our program. We weren't scheduled to attend the Las Vegas event, but will be in Atlanta as planned.” Jenkins will be inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in Talladega, Ala., April 24, which will mark the 25th anniversary of the institution.
