Hello there. Long time lurker first time poster here. I am currently building a track in my basement. It is a max trax 1/64 1000' track with a drag pro 2000 timing system. My question is: What is the best way to secure the sensors in the holes in the track? Thank you.

Welcome to the site. 1/64 1000' is what most of us are running. I simply drill a hole which I believe is 1/8" for the top of the LED, then a slightly larger hole, only going in a small distance for the LED shoulder, at the bottom of the track. Then a small dab of hot glue to secure the wire. My track is raised on both sides to allow for the wires to run underneath.

Dave, Thank you, that helps a lot. My track is also raised a few inches for wiring. Ill try to post pics when complete.

Sounds awesome and if you haven't already had experience with the Drag Pro system, you're going to love it! Dave's method for the sensors is how I did mine as well. I have the same set up as you do. All my wiring is run underneath my track. I have holes cut for them to pass thru. It gave me more room to work to do it that way and a clean top side view. I look forward to seeing the track. Keep us updated.

Looking forward to seeing the track and hoping you will host some races in the future. A lot of work but you get to run the races and see them first hand.

Ok. Everything is assembled and powered. Drag pro is loaded. The problem is the sensors do not seem to be working. When I test it the sensor indicator on the screen never turns green. Any advice will be appreciated.

Any advice will be appreciated. #1 What are you using for a source of light above the sensors. #2 Make sure you have selected the sensors you are using in the setup. #3 Make sure you are not in the DEMO mode. Might be something else but its a start! Alan

I have very bright led lights above the sensors. I have checked and double checked that I have the correct sensors selected, and I am not in demo mode. Anything else I should be checking?

Figured it out. Cant use led lights. Must use halogen or incandescent. I will not be sleeping tonight with this track up and running. Pics coming soon.

Infra Red emitters can also be used. Trackmate has these available for a gantry application. I fabricated these for my track when I was using the Trackmate Basic system. When I upgraded to the DP3000HO and found some Utilitech 120v xenon "puck lights" on Ebay. They work great and have good range.

I also tried LED lighting on my first setup with no results. Went to strong incandescent lighting then went to IR emitters or both. I am sure you will enjoy the track and timer. Timing system adds a lot to the enjoyment of the track. It is also an indispensable tuning tool.

JJ, It would certainly help if you could give the members a part number and a source for the IR emitters. Thanks Alan
