So I got a new AW Super III today and decided to hop it up. This car has Silver com, silver p/u shoes and a 6 ohm arm out of the box. I replaced the gears and tested it at 18 volts. What a disappointment. The car has severe binding. I took it apart and found out with the motor assembled in the chassis without motor magnets it will not spin free. Everything looks straight and the motor bushings are seated in the chassis all the way. Any one else have this issue. I'm totally confused as to where this is binging up.

Replaced the motor bushings with some mega G'S and it freed the motor up significantly.

I have had a bunch of out of the box car be a big disappointment. Most of the time I can revive them.

I reamed the stock Super III motor bushings with a 1.5 mm drill and installed the motor back in the chassis. That seemed to free the motor significantly. So the car went from just making it to the end of the track to the mid.9's. I'm going to try a 3 ohm arm and braids on the next build.I really like this chassis for the 3 wheel lengths. It truly has a lot of potential.

It usually takes someone like us to improve on what some factory does with a mass produced item. That goes for most everything not just cars.
