Your cars did well, it takes time to get these cars to run well and they still have a mind of their own. I had my own track and it still took a couple of years before I won a race.

I had spoke to you about getting a strip, I got it. Time to get off my butt, install some electronics and find another 3mph. LOL Thanks again Brothers. Having a track is a definite advantage in finding out where your cars are doing well or lacking. Otherwise it is just a guessing game. It looks fast but how does it compare to other cars. You cannot visually tell the difference between a car that is doing a .40 ET or a .42. Likewise a 25 mph car will look similar to a 28 mph when testing. I have made changes to some cars trying to get them to 60' better. Having a .01 60' advantage will usually outweigh a 2-3 mph advantage on top end.

Just some advice to anyone new planning a race. Keep it simple with only one or 2 classes as it is a lot of work. The list races are by far the hardest to run and keeping track of that all becomes a blurr after a few days. I spend about 4 days running the race including return shipping, with some long days in there. That does not include all the other early prep work.

I used a 22 rpm gear in the viper and now thinking 23 because it would step up the launch. But it may hurt on the top end. The storm was loaded for bear. I had three kits on it.LOL It being a brush barrel car, I used .009 brush springs. the brush needs to be 1/3 less in length so not to slow arm spin with friction. The set up amp draw looked ok, it was much easier to hit the numbers on the bench with smaller gauge springs. Going back to the .008. Not having any way to time, it is just as you say, its a guess. Well I really enjoy racing with you guys and look forward to racing again.

Everything is a balance with these cars, if you have to low a gear you may lose top end, to high and you lose bottom end. I will usually sacrifice a little top end to get a better launch but if the car cannot put that power to the ground you lose at both ends. Same thing with brush spring tension, how much is too much? Funny you should mention 3 kits, I had 3 N2O stages on my Beretta. They were pretty much for show only since I could only use part of one stage. Once again getting the power to the ground is the trick.

Brush spring is easy even with the endbell. Amp draw tells. That number when you get it right doesn't change all thru the power range. Some guys use a DYNO, give me a meter every time. The HJ was not showing as well with 9 as it did with the 8s. Close but I took the chance thinking it would be faster each pass, just the opposite happened. Now to tune them back up. Isn't that what we do? Make them faster next time that is.
I should say the end bell will give a number that does go up as more power is applied. Important to check it doesn't go to far away from the 6 volt number to the full power number.

Some of the packages will take a little longer as they did not pick up when I put the request in so I went to the post office and they were closed. I tried to use the drop box and it locked up??? I guess they are all screwed up this time of year.
