Does everyone use the tree on your tracks. Im looking at mine, looks out of scale. What Im asking is do you think its needed?

Bear Creek Dragway has the Trackmate 6" tree. I use it on the track, but not in the conventional position because it is not to scale. I located mine down track left side about a third of the way down. It was a good spot visually. I like it because it is more realistic like the 1/1 tree rather than looking at a computer screen or some other means.

I tried your suggestion JJ. Much better. It almost would be a sin not having a tree. Godzilla comes to mind in the center of the track .

I like having things to scale, but that tree is more a part of the track "system" if that makes sense. That's how I look at it anyway. It goes along with the computer monitors and stuff and is not really meant to match the scale of the cars. With the tree in that position, it is an easy transition visually from the tree to the cars going down the track. What I do want is a scale Christmas tree for the track....not working, just ornamental. I've seen them, but I do not have one yet.

I'd sure like to have an operational tree installed as things progress. I think it would be way cool, even though out of scale. I acquired one of the Johnny Lightning ornamental one's off ebay and they tend to add some effect. I think the operational one's look really cool in some of the video I've seen. Really add's to it. Any pictures of you guy's setup and positioning?

This is the Bear Creek layout and functional tree position. Picture was taken from the left side driver station. Drivers can stand on either side of track and tree is equally visible. Weather dictates if one, both, or no doors are open.

Nothing to look at yet. I have done lay out for sensor spacing. Center line is painted, starting line is dressed out with vinyl. Next is to transport track to its temporary home for final assembly. Almost ready.Contractor says two more weeks.

My tree sits off to the side of the track also. As stated nice looking tree but a little bigger than normal for the scale. Christmas tree

Hey Everyone, Happy New Year. Last week I worked on the timing system. It went without a hitch. Im very pleased with the Trackmate DP 3000. Trackmate had it ready for me. All I had to do was drill the holes and run the wires. Then it all plugs in. I still have some gantry work to be done. Not sure if using them or a combination of overhead lite and gantry. Track was working with either during system tests. At the same time power mains were installed. Track is made to transport so it has three buses. It will be another week before I get back into it. Road racing slots, work and playoffs are what is up next.

I used mini floodlights for the photocell lighting. Works pretty good but I added gantries later on to aid the system.

Dave the sensors worked really well. Light or gantry it saw all. I to will be placing the tree down track. Its nice lite up and the distance puts some scale back into it. Thanks for the advice guys.
