Please let me assure you all, that I'm not whining or complaining, rather, just passing on info. Dave632 & I mentioned this vendor on ebay in this thread nitroslots.com/post/53737/thread . I received my cars (2) yesterday but did not have time to deal with them until this morning. Anyways, I hadn't bought from this vendor before and didn't realize they would ship the 2 AW 4G chassis in a padded envelope . I've always received such things in a box or extremely well wrapped. This was just the two cars in their AW bags in a padded envelope. One of the cars had a shoe bent and almost off, spring was intact. When I tested the cars, the one with noticeable damage didn't run as it should, had a high pitch whine and really slow, 8.327 seconds on the track. The other one ran normal at 1.203. After pulling the large idler gear out I found that the motor was the issue. Just visually looking at it, it appears the commutator plate is pressed on crooked. Now, I think the shoe got bent in shipping but doubt the armature issue happened in shipping but don't know anything for sure. I will plan on letting the vendor know that IMO they should ship a little differently but I mainly wanted to let y'all know they ship that way in case you thought they would ship differently. Maybe it's not a concern for some but I thought the padded envelope was risky to say the least. YMMV
EDIT: forgot to mention that the same chassis with the bent shoe also had badly bent rear axle with severe wheel wobble. Could have happened during assembly I suppose but the shipping method is definitely suspect.

It gives me great joy to follow up on this: just now received an email that the vendor volunteered to be shipping out a new chassis today. He said I could keep the other one for parts. I'm impressed! I hadn't expected that kind of generosity. I'll keep y'all posted as I'm sure it will ship in a padded envelope also but I'm sure he knows his shipping business better than I .

Gale you can let them know that I will continue to be a customer of theirs as well because of the way they back the product they are selling. I appreciate that very much in this day and age. I put 4g chassis under 95% of my customs and at $11 - $12 each....that's hard to beat. I have actually already purchased from them. Thank you for sharing. I'm glad they are taking care of you.

I buy chassis from Power Hobby at least 10 at a time and they have always been well packed and arrived in good shape, that being said i am also glad you contacted them and they made it right... It is good to keep vendors honest. Dog

Sounds like a vendor that stands behind what they sell, very good. It also seems like some of the damage happened in manufacturing but putting them in a box is far better than a package.

Just a follow up: Received the replacement 4G chassis today. Fast! It came in a padded envelope and the envelope had noticeable damage, was broke open where the car was. I immediately thought 'oh crap'. The car looked great when taken from the package so took it from the AW bag and it turned a 1.356 and a 1.380 respectively, which I consider pretty average for new outta the bag. All's well that ends well.

Boxes are a little more expensive than padded envelopes but I would think the damage and saved refunds would more than pay for the difference. Glad all turned out well. 1.3s are pretty average times for a stock 4 gear.
