Gettin' some Jag DR1 rear wheels narrowed down for send backs after the race . Gale may I ask how you are narrowing the wheels? Sorry if I missed a post on that elsewhere. My method works, but is pretty primitive and you are more up to date on things like that. Thanks in advance.

My method works, but is pretty primitive and you are more up to date on things like that. Thanks in advance. With my CNC I'm doing 8 at a time. Using 1/2" MDF, I cut 3/16" hole all the way thru (so as to be able to push them out from other side when done), then a shallow hole to hold the wheel tightly. Then I put all the wheels, with inside of wheel facing up, in the holes, making sure to seat them all the way to the bottom of the shallow hole. Then I do one cut on the axle flange and another cut for the remainder of the rim. Reason for the 2 different cuts is I chose to leave the axle flange protruding .010". Hope that kinda makes sense .

I did not take any photos when doing the procedure this time. Here are some photos from back in January when I was first exploring this. Might help clarify. At present, I am narrowing the wheels more than what these photos show.
1st photo shows the holes in the 1/2" MDF jig. 2nd photo shows the wheels seated in the holes. 3rd photo is after the narrowing cuts.
This shows what they looked like after popping them out of the jig. Hope this helps to clarify the procedure.

Please forgive my dumbness . I, like Jeff was, am a little short on AFX bodies. Was wondering if either of these 2 bodies would be legal in PSO. I think they are but would like some clarification. Thanks a bunch!

Thanks a bunch! Gale these are the body rules.... Body must have doors and fenders. Body mounts maybe repositioned. Only hard plastic, injection molded or resin bodies allowed. Scoops, wings, parachutes etc...are optional. Pro Street Musclecar type is the theme. I would say the Cooper could be ok, but the Cuda is a Funny Car body.

Very ingenious work with the wheel narrowing. Always very interesting the things you are doing. I appreciate the details of how you are accomplishing that. I have to do them one set at a time . I am very envious to say the least!

I might use the Cooper but do have a 70ish Camaro that I'm pretty sure will be legal, so to avoid pushing the envelope, will no doubt go with it. Being unfamiliar with the Pro Stock scene I thought I better check. When I was younger and actually went to the races, it seemed to be all gassers and altereds. Don't think Pro Stock was a thing yet .

I am very envious to say the least! Thanks Jeff! I'm actually fantasizing about doing a jig where I can remove a controlled amount from the outer face of these wheels also and then touch them up with a chrome paint pen if need be. Won't happen this month but hopefully later in the year .

If it were my race I would allow any body to run if it was all you had but the theme is muscle type cars which followed the Street Outlaw TV show. Doors are a necessity as Jeff mentioned. Don't see to many lifting the whole body to get in their cars. Seems like the current full size Pro Mods are running just about as fast as the Alcohol funny cars are now a days. Doors don't slow the cars much and the chassis are actually more sophisticated in the Pro Mods. Don't know what the weights are in the different classes. I remember even when I ran I had outgrown the braced Ford 9" in my car and I was told I needed a stronger rear as the 9" would start to distort under the load and cause the car to go pull to the right which it would do.
I see the Jig but I was also wondering what you are using to cut the Wheels?

I'm not trying to be difficult with the body selection, but it is Pro Street Outlaws. If it was a week before the race then I would say run what you have, but there is still time to obtain a body or two if needed. The Mini Cooper is a stretch for Pro Street, but I would say let it run. I know on the TV show some of them damn near have Pro Mods, but that's not what we have been doing here. We need to keep it as close to Pro Street type cars as possible. 4GO is Pro Mod / Doorslammer. If it was a Class race then the decision would be up to Gale as to what body to allow. But the List races are ongoing. Gale if you do not have a body to use, I would be more than happy to send you one of my own just to have you involved in the PSO racing! Just say the word Sir .

Yeah, the PSO list racing was my concern. Gonna go with the Camaro body. I think that will be a safe bet . If I happen to get 2 AFX cars ready, I'll no doubt use the Cooper body for the class racing on the second car. Thanks guy's!!
Using a 3/32"d router/CNC bit. It's programmed to remove .02" depth at a pass. In my limited experience, I've found going too much, too soon, causes melting and distortion in the plastic. So I go fairly slow when cutting plastic. The bit goes in a circular pattern and over laps each pass by 2/3rds of the bit diameter. The router speed is pretty slow at around 12,000 rpm.

And . . . . my friendly weekly reminder: only 4 weeks left for your race cars to arrive at the Good Time Speedway! I know July is a really busy time for all of us and will go by fast. I think you all are really gonna like the new power supplies, I know I do .
An informative PM will be sent to all entrants shortly.
