Hello, Welcome to the forum. Good to hear your wanting to build some HO drag cars and a track. For the track, Either plastic or wood will work. It just comes down to preference and time. A plastic track will get you running quicker. A wood track will take some time routing, painting and laying rail. A wood track, you can make your sections 8' long which is nice because you do not have all the joints as you will in plastic 15" sections. Max track sells straights in 3' sections that is nice. www.maxtraxracing.com/If you have the plastic track I would set it up and get racing. You can always upgrade later if you want. Trackmate sells timing systems here starting from $119 www.trackmateracing.com/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=10&cat=%3Cb%3ESlot+Cars%3C%2Fb%3EBuilding Funny Cars can be achieved by getting some of the mead bros. kits. Look down on the home page under "Resin body and decals" There are links to purchasing their kits. Excellent stuff, you'll not be disappointed with them. Hope this helps you a little. Feel free to ask more questions. If we can't help you, we'll find someone that can. Sam
