Been getting all hung up on including a facsimile of a MSD Ignition being included with some engine detailing . Wondering what determines which side of the engine that the ignition is placed. Most I see in photos are on the right side, some on the left (as in pic 3). Does it have anything to do with brand of engine such as Chevy, Ford or Mopar? Will no doubt go with it being on the right side but just being curious about what determines the placement. TIA.
And, just for reference; - Pics 1, 3, 5, & 6 are 53' Studebaker Slammers. - Pic 2 is a 59' Plymouth Slammer. - Pic 4 is a 60' Chevy Slammer.

You are right Gale. There is no Dodge, Ford or Chevy engines in the Nitro and Pro Mod classes anymore. I bet 95% of the blown cars has the magnetos in the front right side like you see. That’s because almost all the after market engines are copied from the old 426 Chrysler Hemi. That was it’s stock location. And most of the others come off the front of the front cover. The reason they come off the front is the set back blowers make no room for them in the rear. Plus on the bodied cars there’s not much access or room in the rear. The Turbo and Nitrous cars I think most of them come off the front to in various locations for easy access. They have so many different drives and configurations the magnetos can be anywhere. Hope that answers your question ? Rick

Very good answer Rick. Nothing from an original Chrysler Hemi is in those blown cars and for that matter no Stock BB Chevy parts are in any of those either. Nothing in my last 2 BB Chevys came from GM except the basic design.
