I have used comm drops. be careful, some are a bit caustic and can dissolve (make weak) the glue that holds the comm plates on the armature shaft. so, when you are done using the car, spray the comm with an electronic cleaner like the RC guys use on their electric cars.
yes, they do improve the performance.

One of my tjets seems to only run good when has comm drops but its only good for a few passes before performance drops off. Because of that its never made it to an event.

Like Bill I find that it only lasts a little while but it does help. Like Al said some of them are caustic so be careful with them. I have one called Nitro lube that does not seem to cause any damage that I know of. It's effect is not as good as some however.

Id like to hear a little more on this .10 car, what type car, voltage and length of track. I've been working on .10 in the eighth my eagle racing car is the fastest car i have with .271 and quite a few in the low .300 . They rock the box pretty good. It looks like you're trying for .10 with bolth your list cars that was a good showing at JJ'S

Its more a lubricant that gets slung off. If you could get a coating that leveled into comm plate and didn't get thrown, like a rain X. Create a smooth surface without hampering conductivity, you would have a better drop. I know of none.

I think Vince means pick up a .10 not a car that runs .10. MY fastest so far has hit in the .22s in 15.5' at 20v. I know some have run in the .1s but that was with a lot more voltage and amperage than I run. My track could not stop cars running that fast.
