Looks like a great lot there Gale, good luck at the race. Mine will be hitting the road next week. I was not sure what voltage Andy is running the cars at. Said 12v but later says the sets come with 18-19v. I ran them at 14v since I was set up for Al's race and the SS ran 19 MPH on my track with the stocker hitting 12. This was at 15.5' which is about 1/2 what they are running there. I found the choke and cap for the stocker and put it back on. Those items make no difference in performance, they are just there to cut out interference on your neighbors TV.

I had no cars or parts for the race in England. I do wish all who make the journey the very best!

Thanks, Dave Vince & Jeff Wallace I was at the end of my rope this week, And had only 2 cars close to being finished 😨 Thank you both for your encouragement and advice. I kinda was certain what an old-fashioned Thunderjet was, but had some with a traction magnet on the crown gear side 🤔. Then the question Was what is a 3 Gear, I wanted not to miss out on this 🏁 Thunder Road Race 🏁 truly out of my Comfort Zone BSRT, VIPER, SUPER-G and All Tyco's "YA" But these funny Armatures going Roundabout 😁 Well it kinda seems like rolling the dice All cars the same within reason. With help from Dave 🤔 I think I'm driving him Crazy I wanted to text Him many times this last week but told myself I better not drive him "MAD" 🤔 So I botheded "Jeff" I took all the chassis apart and learned how to check the ohm's 🤔 I was very displease, they were reading 18,16,15, and very few were reading 14 plus like 14.7 or 14.5. By this morning at 5 am up all night, I had taken 23 chassis apart trying to find a straight-up 14.0 ohm "Not to be found" Well to say the least my cars are ready to be 📦 Boxed and 🚣 Shipped, Coming your way AL. What a learning Curve Coffee all night and all morning, There was no way I would ever have been able to sleep. 😨 Man do I have a "MESS" To Clean up, so many chassis to put back together. Much Thanks from finistauri

LOL, that IS the madness of our hobby. you will get used to it. and, now you have evaluated a lot of parts so you can know what to use them for (or not) in future. Aurora armatures that have gold(copper) wire winds and red painted stacks (tips) are in the 14 OHM range. and ,..... yes, it is difficult finding the very best parts to build superb race cars with.I have hundreds of pancake armatures that aren't goo for any race class. oh well. looking forward to racing your cars.

Mike you are not driving me Crazy, I am glad to help. I could have told you a 14.0 ohm is a rarity and 1 ohm or so does not make much difference. Proper setting of the brush spring tension is a lot more important. 14.7 -14.5 is good and don't forget your meter leads and probes add a couple of tenths.

Thanks Dave I learned a lot, throw this process what a finicky Bunch these pancake cars are 😁 I turned my Meter finally 😲 You had showed me how to use it at your Smoky Mountain Race 😨! I think I was burnt out from none stop racing all those 🤔 I think 120 dragsters, I lost count around 10:30 pm Well my meter 2 10th of so I minus the reading. Dave see you at the pavement on Tunder Road 🤔 If I don't get lost in the Postal Service 😁

Thanks Al I did not realise the cars have to be there very soon, I'll get them out tomorrow. For some reason thought it was the end of July. Good thing I stayed up all night.

Thats funny Finistauri, I got a big MESS going on myself. I agree with Dave. I'm finding the lowest ohm armature is not always the fastest. I have one at 15.2 and the lower ohm arms I have can't beat it. Also like Al has told me before you have to find the magnets the armature likes. Lots of test runs and dismantles = big mess lol.

Sam This Pancake Drag racing 🤔 Is like rolling the dice or playing ♣️ cards. That is truly interesting about your 15 ohm Armature, It seems like it takes more skill to race these little buggers. I just hope I don't end up in last place, But I do like 3rd place or snywhere close to the Winner's Circle. The only testing I can do right now is a 14 inch piece of track, I put the car 🚘 on the track with one clamp on the rail, I quickly touch the other rail 🤔 If the car does not instantly take off then it's not ready. Well let have a great time together. Would it not be a great time if we all could get together just one time for a race, Back in my early days we used to rent a presidential suite at a hotel, Set up tables and trade watches. Can you imagine setting up a Drag track and racing together over a weekend.
