Jeff, sign me up for one in each class. These will be new builds for me, so I will have lots of questions. Also I would like a match race with Rick's vette against my red mustang. Also Christine would like to take on Ricks willys if he's up to it. She said she would behave. She didn't run over even one person last event. Mike your cars arrived today.

Looks like my viper build won't be in Texas. After a 9volt warm up the 3rd pass down the track resulted in this mess,my other inline build on 440 platform just smokes when power applied., Don't have parts so a 6 ohm super stock is best inline heading to Texas.Viper ran good on 9volt but comms. blew apart at 20 volts and took the endbell brushes with it. maybe I got 2 bad 2.4 arms , maybe I'm a knuckle head, 6 ohm ran fine in same tyco ? Anyhow it's '' YO Dog" get that pinto in the box. Gibbo's one entry short

The cheap Chinese comms will not hold up under the stress of high performance running. I built a 1 ohm out of a Chinese arm and it did not make it more than .01 seconds of run time. It flew apart just like yours did. You need a good commutator to handle the heat and I do not know where to get them or I would build my own armatures.

I have a important question I have order these armature below and do not want the same disaster to happen, is this the Armature you are referring to-? Finistauri The cost was $33.99 Viper 34G 1.0 Ohm Turbo NXS Hi-Temp Dynamically Balanced High Speed Armature All new Viper Turbo NXS Hi-Temp High Speed modified armatures with powder coated lamination stacks and Bakelite commutators. New design laminations for High RPM. Dynamically balanced, tool-post ground stack laminations, epoxied windings, trued comms. These 34 gage arms average 1.0 ohms.

Wondering if the arm in the Tyco could have been a Super G+/Viper arm? Different timing.

Mike if they had the wrong timing they would not have run at the lower voltage.

hmmmm, just to clarify ..... Mike says the Tyco 440 didn't run, just smokes? Bill says that if a Tomy arm (viper, BSRT) were used in a Tyco chassis that might be the problem? Dave says that a Tomy Arm in a Tyco chassis won't run at any voltage?
what am I missing?

I may have gotten one to rotate a bit with the wrong timing but it wont last long and all the good smoke gets loose.

I haven't got one to run with the wrong timmed arm but I did let off a smoke bomb before I learned the difference lol... i was thinking like Bill but it depends on how you read it.
Just incase someone doesn't know. A tyco/wizzard timmed armature has the commutator gap in the center of the armature stack. A Tomy/viper timmed arm will have the comm gap off to the side of the stack.
That can still sound confusing when your new. I know... ill add a couple pictures so one can see.
