90 degrees out of phase is the difference. They can probably run when about 15-30 degrees off but 90 is too much. When a motor is advanced this is
what we are doing to it. A small advance can sometimes give the motor more power with a higher current draw. Retarding the timing can lower current
draw and decrease power.
Anyone ever get a chassis with magnets in it that were the same polarity? I have bought some that came that way where someone did not realize you
needed different polarity magnets in a DC motor, installed the magnets that way and wondered why it did not run.

Yep seen that before Dave. Never forget. I got 5 nonrunning tjets once. They all had the same magnet. I had 10 north pole magnets lmao. Sam

Another thing I have found with old T jets that have sat for many years especially the tri colored arms. You check the arm and it reads good, about 18 ohms all poles. As soon as you put some power to it it starts to smoke and melts the chassis where the brushes sit. I think the coating on the windings breaks down over time and starts to short out
as soon as you run them again. This has happened numerous times to me.

Jeff can you please sign me up for 2 in each class. Like your choice of classes it will give me a excuse to try and build a new Fuel Altered ? Wether I do is another thing. I was thinking about you running your Wild Mini Cooper but remembered it was for a 3 gear ? And been wanting to build something bigger that a Super Stock in-line. I started gathering parts for a Super Comp in-line just never built on. Rick Rick your cars arrived today! |

****ATTENTION**** ****ATTENTION****
Sjracer is now in the house and that completes the arrivals......I think.
There is one other racer left, but I'm not sure he is sending anything because I haven't heard from him since sign up. If they do show up, I will race them. But I am moving forward as if everyone is here. I am a little behind from where I wanted to be, but no worries.......I have 5 days to get this done and that is plenty of time. Work loaded me up for the last two days because they knew I was going to be off till Tuesday. So I didn't get as much done the last few evenings. I am finishing getting the track and garage set up for the race tonight.
I will post a tentative race schedule tomorrow morning followed by Qualifying of the Super Comp classes. Unlimited 4 gear will not be Qualified due to potential wear and tear....with the emphasis on "tear"! I will do a random draw for ladder placement. Anyway that is where we are at right now.
2020 NTRA Texas Nationals starts tomorrow morning! |
