Anyone know if there are any drop in ceramic magnets that will fit the jag dr-1? Haven't tried it to verify compatibility but the DR chassis is closely modeled off of the AFX MEGA-G chassis. Many of the MEGA-G parts will fit the DR. Traction magnets do as to pick up shoes. Motor Magnets may as well. That may open up a whole lot of possibilities, as far a parts sources.

Dave, I may be thick headed ..... (maybe?) please provide a little more clarification on the magnet situation regarding the Super Stock Inline class. I don't have a gauss meter per se, but I have ways of comparing strength.
some "poly" magnets from various manufacturers (Viper .....) have been allowed in the past. in the advertisements for those they claim to be parallel in strength to common ceramic magnets.
I know I am asking a lot, but, maybe you and a couple other monitor/administrators can put your heads together and create a list of "allowed" magnets or a list of "disallowed" magnets.
I am probably not the only one with questions but I am always up to asking.
thank you in advance for your kind consideration and I know you will give this some serious thought and evaluation before answering.
looking forward to your event.

Just an idea here. There's an ohio group that racers use the same type of scale. It can be bought at harbor freight. I got one for $8 there. You can get coupons to make it cheaper. I was impatient lol. You can measure magnets and total down force on cars. From my understanding there is bearly a fraction difference between scales if any. ... you just have to drill a few holes and glue some metal rails in place. There is an aluminum cover taped on the scale that is taken off. This may not be a true way of measuring but if we adapted to this we could all be on the same page. If we did this and anyone needed the metal strips I have plenty of track to take the rails out to share with everyone. In the pictures i tested Aurora, autoworld, and nacho poly magnets Skillet

Al it is unlikely I would disqualify anyone for motor magnets. I can tell you without any doubt that if you put Neo motor magnets in your 6 ohm Inline, or Pancake for that matter, you will go SLOWER. I have picked thru many AFX style magnets looking for higher strength magnets and also matching them but I really have not had any great improvement when finding a pair that is even 100-200 gauss stronger. Now if you use an old pair of T jet magnets that read 3-400 gauss that will slow your ET down but believe it or not the speed in the traps will be similar. As far as coming up with a list of approved magnets that would be tough as I surely have not tested every magnet out there. I also think I am the only one with a gauss meter and they don't even make that one any more so it would be almost impossible for anyone else to check theirs. The scale idea Skillet has is a good one for a rough idea about which magnets are stronger. The stock old worn out Aurora T jet magnet would probably read about 300-400 on my meter, while the AW would be in the 7-800 range. The final one my guess would be around 1300-1600. Matching motor magnets to your armature is far more important than just using strong magnets. Now the Unlimiteds can use the Neo magnets but those arms are in the sub 1 ohm range. As far as legit cars, I would be a lot more worried about a car with a low ohm armature than stronger magnets in the Stock or Super Stock class.
