Here are a couple projects lined up for the Hillbilly Garage. The wagon will be a 4-gear stock entry at Summerslam. The " Rolling Stoned " Duster may end up in the sharkpool for 4GO ..... we'll see

I need a duster. My dad had a 70 with a 340. Called vitamin C that thing was bad to the bone. I had a built 383 in my roadrunner and that Duster would give it a run for the money. Driving the 2 cars you couldn't really feel a difference between them.that was an eye opener to the small blocks for me. He had more into his car but still, man I couldn't believe what it would do.
Rolling stoned makes me want to put on my Dr.hook and the medicine show album.

I had a '68 dart that had a 340 out of a 71 cuda in it. w-2 direct connection heads, a nice single plane intake. pretty quick car. That was back in 1980. I kinda wish I still had it , the older mopars seem to be pretty costly these days

Sure wish I had some of the cars I had in the past. Same here! Not sure if I’d rather have some of the ones from my past or some of the ones you owned. You’ve owned some pretty incredible cars. Was just talking with my Dad about some of the cars he owned. Learned to drive in a Model A, had a 40 Ford in the service, also owned 57 T-Bird, 64 Fairlane, 68 Mustang, 69 + 70 Cougars. Guess you get the idea he’s a Ford guy.

Stock 340's had 2.02 intake valves and good flow right out of the gate. Chevy boys always drooled over the stock 6.123" rod length. Smokey Yunick made a 6-inch Chevy rod to rise to the cause and answer Dodge. That evened the playing field a bit in oval-track back in the 60's. Fun times.
If I were to pick a Ford. I might want a Sunbeam Tiger. Agent 86 - Get Smart. My hero.

Of all the ones I had the Beretta has to be my favorite. I had 2 fogger stages on that monster plus 2 plates under the 2 Dominators. Just one run with all that power turned on would have been great. Unfortunately the most I could get to the track was one 250 shot and it was an animal with just that. Beretta without hood

When it had the smaller 482" motor in it I took it for testing at a 1/4 mile track. I cut off at the 1/8th mile however, it still ran mid 8s. By the times it ran in the 1/8th it should have run at least low 7s in the 1/4. I could have hit another stage at the 1/8th mile mark and it would have run 6s. I also needed a tighter converter in it for the N2O as it was blowing right thru it when I turned it on. I never figured out how to get it to go straight enough, I always had to pedal it. I was told that I needed a stronger rear end setup as they tend to bend when to much power is put to them. It had a braced Ford 9" with a Mark Williams center section but that was not enough in this case.

onna try a Slottech build . Pink Panther chassis, prolly a little too flexible for dragging but we'll see. gonna work on the vintage Tyco brass pan also. got a 2.7 ohm can motor for it to try .

Nice. I like the panther chassie. 2.7 can motor is powerful, it's what I stuck in the monster truck.

Gibb you could bake the chassis if you have an oven that will hold at 140-160. Ten or fifteen minetes takes the moisture out of the plastic. It will stiffen up. You can also secure the bulk heads with screws. Wizzard sells screws for the bulk head. We would do that to tyco chassis when building restricted open cars, ploy magnets and any ohm arm. Back in the day those cars were turning lap times just a bit faster than what stock ceramics are now. We have come a long long way with the technology today.

My oven goes down to 180. I've done tyco's and the dark colored panthers like Eric is saying with no problem. I even uped it to 200, just to see and it was ok. I also tried baking them up to an hour and 15 minutes. That was my longest test. For me I feel after 30 minutes you got all your going to get out of it. The different lengths in time will give you different effects of stiffness. I also have done thundercat chassis that I boiled to make blue then baked with no problem.
I did a tomy super g once and it melted flat, its no longer with us.
