2021 NTRA Winter Nationals and Kiwi Challenge
It's Raceday!!
Good morning everybody. Today will be all about getting things organized and into the race flow. I will be Qualifying all Gasser, 3g Super Comp, and the Nitroslots Kiwi Challenge cars. I will also be taking pictures throughout the day....Team pics.....Qualifying....etc. Times will be posted later this afternoon / evening depending how well things go. Qualifying can go smoothly or be slow depending on how well the cars are set up for the track. My objective with the cars is to make sure pick ups and wheelie bars are adjusted properly and that the cars can make a pass. I do not disassemble or go any further than that. I also do not oil the cars unless necessary. Tires will be cleaned before each run. Once again Qualifying will consist of one run in each lane and the best ET of the two runs will be for ladder placement. 4g Unlimited will NOT make any Qualifying runs due to potential for breakage in that Class. I really do not want to see carnage but with that Class it is the nature of the beast. That is part of the game with those monsters. I do not have a schedule for the day. So I will just be posting randomly but like I said, expect to see the times posted later this afternoon / evening. We have one racer that has been held up by the mail system. I am hoping the cars arrive today. That arrival may dictate the Race Schedule. I will post that along with the times.
I guess that's about it for now. Check back in throughout the day for pics and updates!
Welcome Racers to Bear Creek Dragway!! It has begun!!
**Moving to Race Thread with this post**

I forgot to get the Guess the ET #4 time posted lastnight so here it is. Most of you were very generous with the times but the old Firebird is tired and needs a refresh so the number is pretty slow for that build and that voltage.
Two racers were within .0046 with their guesses. One was on the high side and the other low and the Winner is........
Chriskingsley65 with a guess of .4620....a .0327 difference!!
Congratulations!!

The Kiwi Challenger who choked monumentally under pressure from the Kiwis, just ran a .991 on the home track. No tweaking or tuning, just as it came out of the box. Don’t recall if that time would have been enough to win in its challenge heat, but at least it would have been respectable. Haven’t quite figured out what I need to do to run well at Bear Creek. The set ups on my track do even better at Smoky Mountain but slow down at Bear Creek. I’m certainly not knocking Jeff’s track, just noting that there are differences. It’s up to the car builder to figure out how to work with those differences. My theory is variations in magnetic down force.

My track and Dave's are the same track with the only difference being he has 10amps more per lane than I do. So I'm not sure magnetic downforce is the issue. I want everyone to run their best at my track when the cars are sent here though. Your set up was and is always checked to make sure pick ups, etc are correct. I will be more than happy to work with you to figure that out. Believe me, I know the frustration. There is also "the curse of the box". I have been affected by that more than once. I have the same trouble at Good Times Speedway for whatever reason. You could send me a car or two for a test and tune session. I am open to that.

My cars always noticeably perform better at Bear Creek than anywhere else, including here at Good Time. ? ? ? ? ?

My cars always noticeably perform better at Bear Creek than anywhere else, including here at Good Time. ? ? ? ? ? I know what my issues are at Good Times. It is the difference in downforce. I just haven't quite dialed it in. Also my cars are just down on power due to lack of tuning time these days. Nothing to do with your setup Gale....it's a Jeff thing. I have gotten spoiled running on nothing but Max Tracks....mine, Dave's, and Alpinks. Years ago we had several tracks that were all different surfaces. Your track is Top Shelf and I absolutely love running my cars there! I always feel bad when cars don't run well at Bear Creek but as we all know sometimes they just have a mind of their own.
