Bill you may already know this but enamels need longer to cure before sealing them in with a clear coat. The off gassing can cause problems. One of the reasons I don't use them anymore. We sure have gotten spoiled by the fast drying air brush paints and lacquers. Like you mentioned, it seemed to take forever for that enamel to dry. Which also means a longer time before they can be masked. All of the bodies painted with it were intended to be 2 toned. As a kid, I used to build a lot of car models. The old familiar smell of the Testors enamel, sure took me back in time. BTW, just ordered a bottle of Aqua Createx air brush paint, which looks like a good color match for the Testors Turquoise.

Thanks for the picture share Bill, love it! Really like the idea of using an old chassis to hold the body for painting! Never saw it before, gonna have to swipe it . Here’s a little more detail on the holders used to paint Afx style bodies. 6F1C281D-8EBF-4A41-ADBB-1FD94E2C69AB by Bill Le, on Flickr They are Johnny Lightning pull back chassis. Remove the pull back mechanism and axle assemblies by removing the screw. Run the factory screw or a longer one if preferred in the same mount hole. With this method you insert the chassis upside down in the body. This works for most bodies except the Afx 57 Vette. For those bodies, the chassis will interfere with the underside of the body, because the driver figure sits down so low. 45F065B7-EEC6-47CC-B2B0-5903E93E0E22 by Bill Le, on Flickr For the 57 Vette bodies the JL chassis mount hole is drilled through and the screw is inserted from the bottom. C21D6A14-E057-4EBF-8AD0-1D9B793AD5EE by Bill Le, on Flickr Alligator clips mounted to bamboo kabob skewers are clipped to the chassis screws. Blocks of wood with holes drilled part way through make a convenient stand for the holders. Cutting the skewers to different lengths makes it possible to space them closer together without touching. This set up has been working real well for me. Don’t recall trying it but it may work on AW 4 gears too. The TJet style JL chassis could be modified the same was but I usually just clamp the alligator clips to the screw posts on Tjets.

Another great idea from the members of Nitroslots! Thanks Bill. I have a bunch of those from the cars I have gotten from you that are just sitting in a box taking up space. You also mentioned in a previous post about building models when you were younger and the smell of Testors enamel bringing back memories. That is exactly how I feel too. I was into models and slot cars as a kid and different smells associated with the hobbies always take me back to those times.....ahhhh those were the days.

Man look at all those cool Mustangs. I would like to know if you do put any up for sale if possible. I guess if I had to pick a favorite it would be the black #1 Fastback. Thanks for posting!
