Looks like ya got the hang of it...!!! RM Hope my resin castings do turn out so good but these are actually a leftover stash of JL and AW bodies. The cove masks seem to be doing a good job.

Looking great Bill! Have you posted any of your castings yet? Jeff, With so many irons in the fire that I have yet to complete the casting. As you can see, been spending most of my hobby time painting 57 Vettes and having a blast. For some time now, I’ve been converting hard tops to convertibles. That left me with a bunch of leftovers. The idea to make some stencils and start painting the leftovers hit me recently. Been running with it since. Turquoise and white, turquoise and back, black and turquoise are in the works. As is red with black. Do you guys have any good suggestions for color combos? Bill

Very light green and white. It was a color available in 1957 on the Vette and full size 57.

Sprayed a pair each of 57 Vettes and Nomads tonite. The paint used was Testors Model Masters Turquois Enamel. Wondering what sort of clearcoat would be safe with that type of paint. Laquer would be out of the question. Not sure about acrylic enamel or urethane. The safe bet is probably Testors Glosscoat but its not the best clear.

Bill you may already know this but enamels need longer to cure before sealing them in with a clear coat. The off gassing can cause problems. One of the reasons I don't use them anymore. This Polycrylic is an acrylic clear but it always worked pretty well on all applications for me while I was using it. Can be found at Lowes or Home Depot. I also completely understand about too many irons in the fire. You mentioned your castings in a prior post and I thought you were doing some. I look forward to when you do. ALL of your projects are looking really good!

Thanks for the picture share Bill, love it! Really like the idea of using an old chassis to hold the body for painting! Never saw it before, gonna have to swipe it .

Yes I have run it through both a single and double action airbrush. Did not need thinning. I also have a formula for a home made acrylic thinner if you are interested. I have used it several times to thin any acrylics that I use....there are still a few. Formula: 2/3 Distilled water to 1/3 Iso alcohol 90% at least and a few drops of Liquitex flow aide.
**60mil bottle**(40ml dist water / 20ml alcohol / 1ml flow improver)

It gets even better. The chassis is just a JL Pullback, which are pretty much a throwaway item. They’ve proven to be quite handy. They’re also great for when you are detailing a body. Keeps me from getting my fingers all over everything.
