Just got one of the newer AFX Chevelle's. This one is in 1/64th scale. It is nicely detailed and has a Mega G chassis in it. It aint fast but it looks good. I noticed it mounts to the chassis in a different manner, (chassis is narrow with no tabs sticking out of it), which makes it tough to switch to a better chassis but that won't stop me. This is the 70 model, they make a 71 also, my son had a full size one some years ago. I will probably get that one also. 70 Chevelle 1

Jags sells a chassis that’s a direct fit. PR5 or something like that It’s similar to the DR1.
Looking at the times and it appears you have a prime index car.

I remember when the full-size ones came out back in 70. Was thinking about getting one then but never did. They were drag strip terrors back then running 11s with just some headers and drag slicks. That was a great time back then. Yes Bill that would make a great 1.0 index car. It was the first and only pass down the track so far so it might be quicker with some more runs.

The new Afx bodies are much nicer than their previous generation. Really like the clear window vs painted. Whole body is molded in clear and then they painted all but the windows

Charlie wrote a brief post about it on SCI. John Cukras. Innovator, Designer, Racer. Im sure John would race the car, it wouldn't sit.

I will race that car as soon as a class opens up that I can fit a chassis in it for, I will race it. None of my cars are shelf queens. Some of the bodies I have had for over 45 years and they all have battle scars.

Spot-on Ken. There is a AFX thread started by Charlie {MSWaterlogged?} It was a while ago Bill and now I think two more afx topics have started. John was a cool guy and very helpful.

I was wondering what that name on the back of the car meant!

That's really interesting. It's nice to know more about the history of our hobby.

Got a red one and a yellow. Just won one of the Vettes on ebay. Was surprised to find that it's a 1.5" wheelbase. Thinking the yellow one is going to become blue. They put some amazing detail on these things.
Since I don't really care for the MegaG+ chassis, I get them from Budshocarsinc on ebay as bodies only. There is usually a lot of competition for these 3 bodies. He also has some nice looking Mustangs and Camaros.
