Having issues in the paint shop. The masking tape and masks/ stencils that I make don’t seem to want to stick like usual. Using good quality Frog tape which is what I normally use.
Wondering if heat and or humidity may be the culprit. Temp in the shop is around 80, in the 90s outside. Humidity about 70%. I try to keep it under 60% for painting but dehumidifier has gotten behind.
Any wisdom you can share on the topic?

Bill I'm going to lean toward the humidity being the problem with the tape not sticking. I think the temperature is good....80deg is not too extreme. My paints dull over when I try to paint in high humidity. Especially the clear coat. I have had some trouble with some Flamemask stencils not sticking, or staying stuck, and I have used a blow dryer to help them lay down. Don't know if that will work or not.

I've experienced the same thing with clear fogging up with high humidity. That's why I try to keep it under 60%.
At this time the dehumidifier is using a built-in bucket, it may be wise to convert it to continuous drain so that it doesn't shut off when full. That may help keep the levels more consistently low.
The hair dryer trick on the flame masks may be worth a try. Thanks for the tip!

Do you recall a few years back that I was having issues with the adhesive leaving residue on the flames upon removal? The culprit seemed to be heat from the clip-on light that was being used to speed the dry time on the paint.
The type of adhesive may have been a factor as well. Some use water based while other are solvent based. Does the blow dryer cause any residue issues on your paint jobs?

Not that I know of Bill. I used a hair dryer to speed up drying time with the air brush and had no problem with the stencils. Just keep it moving , don't hold it in one spot
