My apologies to Pennywize. I opened a thread on the Race Calendar just for reference. I wanted people to see it if they looked at the calendar. I meant to leave the thread locked. So I will answer those questions here. I have deleted the posts on that thread and it is now locked.
Factorystock asked: JJ - I see you have listed a STOCK TJET. Is this new. I look at the 2024 rules and I see STOCK PANCAKE.
TJET is the original Aurora TJET 500 whereas PANCAKE extends way past that.
Just looking for clarification.
Factorystock asked: Understand however under the 2024 rules listing it reflects cutting of the body mounting ears off of AFX type chassis being permitted. That is listed under STOCK PANCAKE. That is why is there a seperate TJET STOCK class using only the chassis such as old TJET 500, DASH, Wizard etc.
Factorystock stated: So what you are saying is that I can run any kind of 3 gear pancake chassis such as an AFX Magnatraction and yet the class mentioned was a TJET which stands for THUNDERJET 500 which was the first pancake car Aurora produced?
Sorry but I always thought a TJET was a TJET and an AFX was an AFX. Yes they all have a pancke style motor.
Just trying to figure out what is what!
Swiftkart answer: The cutting was added to allow resin bodies that are narrow and don't fit with the ears of an AFX type chassis, Tjet mean what it says, Tjet style chassis only no AFX 3 gear, a lot of the rules are somewhat grouped together so JJ doesn't have to have a million different rules, if the race calls for 3 gear pancake, then Tjet and 3 gear Xtraction are normally run together, but this race says Stock Tjet so only Tjet type chassis old and new are allowed.
Jeff please correct me if I am wrong, Thanks,
Ecbill answer: Generally, if the rules or Racemasters specify 3 gear or pancake, it can be Afx or TJet style chassis’. If they specify TJet, then only TJet style chassis are allowed.

OK here we go.......
How I just love aggressive rules questions. Alan....both Swiftkart and Ecbill answered your questions perfectly but you don't seem to want to listen to them. The rules format has been in place for about 10 years now (nothing new). Sam Beckworth along with a core group at that time put them together in an effort to simplify things. They are adjusted periodically as to adapt to different things. Stock Pancake means Stock Pancake. Tjet style of any type...AFX style of any type...4 gear style of any type. The same rules apply to all pancake chassis. The Racemaster specifies the type of chassis he wants to run. In this case Pennywize is running Tjet chassis. So that means you cannot run any other chassis except Tjet. Pretty simple really. But I am just repeating what Ecbill already said.
Next you questioned the cutting of the ears on a chassis. Well Tjets don't have ears so that doesn't apply. It only applies to those chassis that have ears. That rule is there to encourage customizing and the use of aftermarket bodies. Once again pretty simple and I am only repeating what Swiftkart already told you.
I think this should answer your questions and your incorrect statement about being able to run any kind of pancake chassis. Pennywize spelled it out Stock Tjet is the Class and chassis to be run at his event.
Lastly Pennywize's race information has been posted now for several weeks with no questions from you. All I did is copy and paste his race info. as he wrote it.

JJ - All I am doing is trying read the rules chart. You can call a class for TJET and then build around chassis or you call a class for X-Traction and build around that chassis. IS that how you read the chart?
Thanks

IS that how you read the chart? Thanks Yes that would be correct. Racemaster specifies the chassis type. Now......Ecbill elaborated on this. I don't want to confuse you further but if a Racemaster wanted to run all 3 chassis he could. In that case any pancake chassis would be allowed. We know that a 4 gear is not going to be able to run with a 3 gear so that is not really feasible, but a Tjet can run with a AFX style so once again a Racemaster could specify that. My suggestion is to look at things on a race to race basis and see what the Racemaster intends then apply the rules to that.

I can see how it works now. If you recall I have been out of it for more then 10 years so things have indeed changed over this period. Thanks

Thanks Please understand that I have no problems answering rules questions or any other questions for that matter. But sometimes the way things are asked sets the tone for the conversation. Yes I am aware of your absence in the last many years.

I had that thought as I typed it, but typically 4g vs 3g is apples and oranges and I would not run them against each other. I understand there are a few builders that could make that happen...or at least come close. I still wouldn't do it.

Agreed. I haven't been able to come close.

Identically prepared 3 and 4 gears by the same builder would be no contest. The extra geartrain will slow the 4 gear by about .02-.05. That's why they always run in a separate class.

Steve droped into the Fives with his 4Gear last race. The way I see the three gear list Fours will need to be run at the top. Its coming.
