Here is how I do Flames on plastic and Resin bodies. There are flames that are pre cut that these guys sell www.airbrushdiecast.com/kbkustoms/forum/smf/index.phpI've heard nothing but good things about them. I haven't tried them myself but do plan on it someday. This is a quick demonstration. If you have any questions I'd more than happy to help you out. That's what this hobby is all about. The backyard method: I picked up some Tamiya masking from Hobby Town. This tape is the thinnest that I've found which is great for doing jobs like this. If you use a thicker type of tape your taking a chance on getting a paint edge along your tape. Tamiya Masking Tape I laid the tape over the hood over lapping each just enough to cover the body. Then I free handed my Flame design using a marker. This will be my guide. Make sure you put a new blade in your exacto knife before cutting out your Flames. A dull one will cause problems. It'll tear instead of cut. Mask off the rest of the body to prevent over spray from getting on it. I sprayed a white base coat over the front from a can Be careful when you use spray cans. Don't get into a hurry. Put light coats on the body until it's covered. My demonstration body could of used a few more coats. Using a Air Brush I sprayed on the yellow first. When I was happy with the yellow I added the orange. Peel the tape off and Wha La! Flames

Forgot to mention when your cutting the flames out only apply enough pressure to cut through the tape. This takes some practice. Try it on an old junker before you try it on one of your good bodies.

Now I know why I sent the "test" body on the War Fish 1 to the test n tune. I would have screwed up the black cameo paint without your tip on the thin masking tape. I was trying to figure out how to thin the black paint and yet still get complete coverage. Thanks Sam.

Thanks, I saw this body in one of my body boxes and thought it would make for a great demo piece. I'm probably going to strip it all down and make a P/M out of it.
Phil, send your body here if you don't want to mess with it. I'd be happy to paint it for you.
