I haven't ever tried a rust colored paint under the Tiger stripes...I actually have only ever painted them orange. I guess it would depend on the "rust" colored paint. I have seen some paint billed as rust colored that was actually more of an orange hue and some rust colored paint that had more of a brown hue to it.
To be honest I have never even thought about what those tigers would look like painted any other color than orange, so I don't think I am of much help this time.
