Hey KEYSTONERACING Welcome to HO drag racing at its best a lot of good people here. Ive been in it less than a year and I have had a blast. Theres a lot of info on building cars the mail away races are fun and the smack talk is wild but all in fun. It looks like you build cool cars you will fit right in with us.

oh man its pretty cool stuff....................You prep your entry and mail it to the host track.... A lcoal team of drivers draws straws as to whose car they race. Kinda of like being a builder and having a hired driver. It allows you to compete at a national level, even ":tour" but without the cost. We had nationwide participation at our first two events; Gasser Nationals had a 36 car field I believe, (kinda cool that number 19 qualifier took top eliminator), the Superstock nats had 58 cars line up!
You live and die by your driver of course...but even thats part of the fun. You might have a guy cut a great light, or maybe he will red light! Its all part of racing, and the local guys (who are not allowed to enter) really compete hard to win with "their" car. We had moment by moment online coverage of the events, and have videos of all the racing as well. We anticipate live streaming coverage sooner or later. Its a really fun event, and costs very little.
We really attempt to run a 'low ego' organization here, with the emphasis on fun and low B.S. factor. The classes we have developed so far are geared toward low cost and high fun. We all share in the Smack Talk" before the races, and every one pretty freely shares their 'speed secrets' during and after. So far its like a happy family, and Psychoslots and NTRA continue to be dedicated to keeping that going...........LOW COST/HIGH FUN for those who MUST have the ultimate in speeds (at a cost) our Pro Mod class offers that as well!

keystone,, you have found the reason for mail away (proxy) racing,, "no local track".. Sam and I had a grudge match last year.. the hype, the smacktalk and all of it, led to me sending my car to Sam in Colorado Springs for a match (grudge) race, we had a blast with it, yes I lost to Sam's 57, but that wasn't the point,, the Point was, we had fun. After that the NTRA was born. Like you I am also a dislocated slotter, not much interest in my area so if I want to race,, I mail my car to the sponsoring group/track and they have local members run our cars.. We compete much like the 1:1 world.. we have hired guns running our cars.. We happily live with the results no matter the outcome.. The gasser reunion we just run... Well, Sam redlighted with my car... my thought,, it happens.. no harm.. well except for his wife hitting him in the back of the head with a beer bottle, ( just kidding she didn't really do it ).. We are tjet based in our racing, we allow AW and JL in some classes, not everyone can get a hold of a tjet.. WE try to keep the classes simple and inexpensive, at this point our most costly class is the Gasser, Pro Mods are soon to change that, but as a group we don't expect everyone to build one.. WE have no hierarchy other than the board of directors, we discuss rules , and situations as a group and majority rule usually reigns, occasionally we make a decision and set our foot down on various issues... all with the racers best interest in mind.. We are a new organization and we make mistakes.. we are in a huge learning curve at this time.. The NTRA is lucky to have some members that raced back in the day when race cars were race cars and not computer driven, basically that is where we exist.. All out , flat out (pinks if you will) competition.. at the end of the meet we take our cars back to the bench and hunt for more HP.. need help just ask.. we vary from newbies to very well seasoned racers in H.O. and we come from all over the U.S. coast to coast , border to border.. Downside.. well you just won't be there to see your car run,, but results usually are posted on th is board as the race unfolds.. NO video,, not yet.. we aren't the ESPN of H.O. drag racing.. So review the rules.. check out the race reports on this board.. If you feel you want to take part.. the Fall Nationals are coming and you are Certainly Welcome to join in.. WE hope you Win,, we hope you find it fun.. On the competition side... ( ok alittle smack) .... Bring it !! Any problems,, any questions,, just ask.. we are here to race ya , but we are here to help as well.. this is a great group and we hope to bring you to the finish line ahead of the rest ... oh,, one more thing.. the Cost.. well that depends on the class.. and how much you want to put into it... to participate.. right now.. it's a 6.00 entry fee for the first car and a dollar for each additional car.. that covers insurance and shipping.. if you WANT to give a few extra bucks ,, that is welcome too.. usually goes to the drivers at the event for food etc... I hope this has given you the info you wanted and a perspective of who/what the NTRA is about.. as the tagline says... See ya at the line!! Chris

Thanks.....well a long time ago it flirted with the 2's...(132 ft track) if i recall the fastest it has been was around 2.2-2.3 at somewhere around 50mph ....these days all my cars are pretty much relegated to bracket duty running around 3.0-3.5 due to the fact that 2 of them are Trinity PS drag cars at 10+ yrs old and the third is a Fine Design car pushing better then 15 yrs old and finding chassis parts is tough. Broke the t-plate in the funny last year and got lucky one of the guys there had what i needed. Hoping to uprade in the next year to a couple new cars and drive systems and get back to some heads up racing in Pro Mod and Funny car. Here are pics of the other two.... Both my sons and wife race also (My oldest is in Iraq right now and i am planning on sending him some things to work on...so you may be getting a longggggggg distance mail in racer)

Very nice paint work! I use to race R/C's for a few years. Started with off road running Associated and Losi's then moved on to on road cars, carpet and asphalt. I can only imagine that your cars are a handful getting up to speed that fast. Thanks for sharing those with us.
We'd love to have a car sent in by your son who's in Iraq. Let him know his entry fees will be pre paid by the NTRA and please tell him thank you for his service.
Let us know if yourself and the rest of the family would like to be added to the entry list for the race.
