Well guys I ordered a 1000 ft track off e-bay today. I also have 2 12 volt battery's ready to go. A timing system is next. What do you guys think about trackmates budget system?
Thanks Randy

I've used it for a while now and it works great. It doesn't have all the extra stuff that the $450 program has but you can't beat it for $120.

Cool to see another track go up in Florida. Where are you located Randy?
I've heard nothing but good things about the budget system. Like 440 said, you can't beat it for $120

I know of three different ways to set up a portable track. One would be to get three of those plastic saw horses and clamp it or screw it to them with one at the start, one at the joint just past the finish line and one at the end if the track it's self is mounted pretty stiff. The portable track I made is mounted on three boards screwed together to make an "H" if looked at from the end with the track mounted on the crossbar of the "H". Keeps the racing surface flat and the wiring is stapled under the cross board.
I also bought a portable track from Rev. Barnsdale that uses specially mounted sockets and removable legs. It's really neat but a had to be a lot of work to make.
The third way is probably the best and easiest. Just buy three of the plastic 2' X 4' folding tables from Costco or Sam's and Set it on them. I already had the tables from other functions and their legs adjust from coffee table height to table height to counter height. They are great for many other uses and yet can be easily moved with the track since they are light and fold. I think I paid about $35.00 each. I easily could have spent more in time and money for something "trick". It also gives you a place to stage the cars and sit down the ladder sheets. It would be pretty easy to screw a metal "L" bracket to the side of the "H" and use C clamps to clamp the track to the table if you wanted more stability.
Just thoughts and I've sure there are other good ways to "get er done".
