Here's is how I mount my bodies and set the body ride height. First thing, Dremel out the existing body mounts on the inside of the body. Before After Sand the outsides of the new mounts with 400 grit sand paper to give the surface a little more tooth so it'll be able to adhere better. After sanding the outside surface place your mounts on the chassis. Find yourself a old piece of track you can use to set your chassis on. Mix up some 5 minute epoxy and place some over the outside of the mounts Set the body over the chassis. You might need to pull on the bottom of the body from the doors to spread it over the chassis. Once the body is on grab some tooth picks and prop them under the body until you have a ride height you can live with. Make sure that the wheels on both sides of the car are centered in the wheel well openings. After the epoxy sets up pull out the tooth picks and your done. After this step I've been adding a little JB Weld around the mounts for extra security.

The ride height on these cars looks just right, sam.
I am sure you covered this already.....where are you getting the body mounts you are using?

Hey lab . I found a scrap piece of plastic "I" beam laying around . It fit right into the mounting slot on a narrow tyco chassie . I mounted my pontiac to the narrow chassie that way . Ill try to get a pic up later Shooter

John, check out page 1 of this thread. Hilltop has a slick way for making mounts. I made something similar out of styrene and made a mold to make resin ones.
Sounds like Shooter will get you on the right track Larry. I've taken some mounts out of old junk indy bodies before to use. Also the I-Beam styrene (shooter mentioned) and styrene T Stock that you can get at your local hobby shop will work just as well. Depending on what body you use, you'll probably have to add something like styrene tubing or ? to the underside of the body that pushes against the top of the chassis. This will hold the body off of the tires.

I make a wide and narrow body mount out of resin also. Sam I always have like the Grand Prix Tomy body. That was always my choice whenever I raced on a commercial track that was running NASCAR. I think I will pop out a resin one and make a pro stock out of it.
