Hi Eddie, I've been using some wire a friend of mine picked up at a electrical surplus store. It's silver wire and is really flexible. Not sure of the gauge. ] You can get BSRT's #HT125 Shunt Wire for $2.00 from Lucky Bob's. It works just as good. The only thing is that it's a little bigger so it's harder to stuff down between the pick up shoe holders and electrical tab on the motor. You can probably thin it down a little to make it a easier fit. ** Note ** that on the bare wire, don't leave them too long because they can short against one another. Although It does makes for a great fireworks display under the body. At Least so I've heard Not sure if this is much help or what your looking for. What is everybody else using?

Sam Correct me if I am wrong, but I think we decided a while back that if we were doing a burst into flames race, it would be at Phils track, in Flordia. I have some great ideas for that race, as youngsters my brother and I were experts at lighter fluid drag races down our driveway. I mostly went for rear fires cause I didn't want my driver to suffer. My brother on the other hand let it all hang out. As I was the primary model builder for the family it kept me busy. DOG

You know richard and I were thinking about doing some fire burnouts and video it. I dont think Phil will let us do it at his track but it would look cool on his track. So Ill just get some cheap track and do it at my shop. So any one want to send me some cars to BBQ how about you RAGU HELL RAZER would look good well done. ;D DEMON 340

Just a quick note, I have noticed no advantage in adding shunt wires to a car,I have tested on the dyno and track many runs with and without to compare .I use gold electrics on my cars and this does much better than the wire deal. The wire also adds weight to these little cars wich need to be as light as legally possible to improve performance. But there are those that will argue this,to this I say numbers dont lie!!!(As well as track testing)

OK RAGU you up set PSYCHO and he will not do the fire burnout. So now we will get a chevy or a ford body to BBQ and get HELL RAZER to drive it. We may put some RAGU SAUCE on it too. DEMON 340 WARNING RAGU SAUCE HAS BEEN RECALLED. IT WILL GIVE YOU THE SAUCES.

slotrev, I'm with you. I've made over 100 runs tonight with and without shunts and I really don't see much of a difference. If there is it's somewhere between .001 and .005 . I'm just having trouble getting my car up to speed. My best pass with a body is .420 . Best pass no body is .387 . I'm running on a Slot Cars Inc. 1/4 mi track. If the other entries run like the cars of the psycho slot crew, I don't stand a chance.

Shunts is a great topic for debate. I agree with you slotrev, numbers don't lie. I have personally seen what shunts can and can't do. On our track running shunts makes a noticeable difference. Yes, you do want the cars light as possible but when you have a weight rule like in the MM/PS class why not run shunts and remove weight elsewhere like off the body? It's up to each builder to run shunts or not. Everyone has their own way and things they like doing. It's great to hear everyones different views and the different things they do.

actually I just checked the voltage and it was set at 25.75v. I knocked it back to 25.62 and made another run. It ran .428 . During the run I had my Fluke meter recording the voltage. The voltage dipped to 25.53, then jumped to 25.69, and averaged 25.61 .

As far as the shunts go, my gasser and funnycar didn't run any faster with shunts. I went ahead and left them on because I figured it couldn't hurt to have them on.
