Let's take another try at activating the brain, adding another Magnet..increaseing brush tension...more drag force on comm. more friction due to added down force..not much increase this time, going to enter 1.2830

I'll show the mods that I've made before our next pass time on Saturday morning. On the Ultra G chassis there is already one traction magnet on the car. I'm going to take this one off and put a matching set of Radio Shack rare earth magnet dots. If your building your car up like this one, save the magnet you take off and use it on a future build. picture of the stock magnet that comes on the car I'm not sure if they place the magnet in the pour of the chassis mold or? but the ring around the magnet has to be grinded off. Whip out the dremel with this tool, not sure what they call it. It works well for hogging out the underside of bodies and does a great job at eating through this plastic. Dremel Tool After grinding I'm placing a .010" styrene spacer under the magnet on the drivers side of the car. This will get the magnet height a little closer to the other side. Note that both sides are different heights because of the electrical hardware. With the stock rear tires OD being small, this will be plenty of down force. When using a taller tire like we will do in a future upgrade, we'll have to add more spacers to our magnets. Spacer material was bought at our local hobby shop. I use a hole punch to cut the spacer. Scuff up the metal a little to help the glue adhere the magnet. Also a shot of the placement of our spacer. Use Krazy Glue. This stuff will not leave the annoying white residue like other quick fix glues. Radio Shack rare earth magnet dots can easily be found at your neigborhood RS in the HO slot car drag racing section of the store and a final shot of the magnets in place

I lifted this fine tuning tip from Jet's S/S tuning guide. It's on adding brush tension to your chassis. So how do you adjust the motor brush springs for more upward pressure. Here's a stock chassis with no adjustments. Notice one side is lower than the other. Notice the tiny screwdriver pushing upward from the bottom of the chassis. Be careful to not push too much at first - start small and see what happens. Here it is after adjustment.

The braids, extra magnet and brush tension are going to be the biggest gains you can make from a stock car. You'll be surprised at what it'll run now. The biggest problem we faced with adding the braids first is, that it didn't have the down force it needed to make a good pass.
Those that are old to the hobby know it's the last .10 or .010 you try to gain that is the hardest to get. Just ask guys like Jet, Tjetcar, 440GTX and a few of the other quick guys. Quite a bit of T&T goes into the car searching for extra HP.
See you Saturday morning.
