POINTS OF INTEREST FROM 2008 FALL NATIONALS PROXY RACE

In Ratt Rod

We as a group decided to go with an A/B classification to separate the quick 8 from the lower half of the field. The top 8 cars (A class) are definitely much faster than the B class. Separating the classes was done to bring everyone closer racing. We'll see how it works out. A few of the cars received some light tune up. Nothing major. No armature or magnet replacements etc. All original parts are still used on these cars except for some gears that needed replaced, just tuned up so you may see a few cars go faster. There were 17 entries which the race director reduced to 16 after qualifying. Unfortunately John Balich's car was a handful getting down the track without traction magnets.

In Funny Car

Rapid Richard is looking good to possibly get in the .4's today on a well prepped track. There was an incident in qualifying with 440GTX's entry. Our shut down area last resort for stopping cars (towel LOL!) was not set up correctly so his car hit the cushioned wall pretty good breaking his front mounting post. His only qualifying run was a good one. The car has been repaired and will undoubtedly be one to watch today. 440GTX was contacted and was offered a new body with an apology. He is fine with the situation and is ready to race. Thanks Matt for being understanding. John Balich's car did not run in qualifying (Car electrical malfunction). His car has been looked at and will be in the field today. There are 14 entries in this class.

In Pro Mod

There was one entry that was disqualified for the wrong chassis type. The entrant was unfamiliar with the rules and was a great sportsman concerning his disqualification. There were 6 entries in this class. After the DQ there are now 5 entries.

Interesting Facts

3 windows were added to cars to make them legal

2 bent axles were replaced

5 cars traction magnets were adjusted

One car showed up with 3 wheels

3 gears have been replaced
