Some have had trouble responding to our queries for opinions in the NTRA forum. I have copied the correspondence here, to give another option to continue the conversation.
We really need your input in order for us to serve you well.
Thanks
HERE IS THE DISCUSSION SO FAR:
From SCOTTMAN:
I think at least 3 to 4 races a year ,But dont have multi classes everytime,i think A race In the Spring, one in Mid summer and one in the Fall, something like this would work well,April----Sept------Late Nov.. Thats My opinion.
You know I would LIke to see a Pro stock Meet, and have the Mead Brothers Make up some Modern Pro stock cars with rules very simular to Super stock, maybe just add Wider Tires and Shunts to the Super stock Rules and make it the Pro Stock Rules.
another race we need to hold is a Modern top Fuel Meet, using mead Brothers TF Bodies and Gasser Rules.
But back to this Only Two races a Year, and then using After market custom Arms,I really dont agree to much with this,Just for the simply fact it wont be close racing anymore, and the cost will go up.I think the reason we have alot fo members in our races is because we stick to T jets, and simple rules and not alot of expensive parts,so everyone feels they are competitive.we start doing this modifed stuff and people will start dropping out,Like I always say dont try and fix something if it isnt broke,I think our races are well attended, there has been no Problems between drivers, all of our races have been total success,so why try and change it?? We must have done something right to have a magazine Print a story and use your pictures of one of our races.
Thats like Those extreme guys at Drhoe,Their races dont have that many people because people Cant afford all the stuff.
This is just my two cents Sam.if it aint Broke dont fix it.
Thanks Scott
From JOHN BALICH:
Thanks Scott. Please guys more of this is what we want.. I'll pin you down one one specific question tho Scott. To make sure i read you correctly.. You think the mean green standard for Gas/and BB/FC should stand as is?? Thats fine, if thats what most guys want.. We have no pre-concieved notions , just questions! lol
What we need in order to conduct more races is more 'host tracks." It's that simple. To ask Sam and Kim to host 3-4 meets a year would mean they were always working on the next race. We might twist their arms for two. Three races would be great......four might be pushing it, but another year of this will help us read the tea leaves better.
I agree with much you have to say.....I'm curious about other guys........
We do PROMISE...................SuperStock and other near stock/lightly modified classes will always be available, and we will always strive for the least amount of class changes once they are established.
As far as costs........I think you can see both sides of that coin..
for guys already five arms to get one, it's no real change.....for many of us, we just buy a mean green and install it and go. To that latter group it is a cost escalation......and we are always going to be wary of that. I am on the fence with this one. (of course i do have a fair stock of mean greens which could become obsolete!!)
Your comment, "if ain't broke... etc" is always a good one to keep in mind. We will always look to improve....as opposed to change for change's sake.
Again, thanks for the input Scott, and don't hesitate to add more.
The rest of you guys, from oldest to youngest, from 'old hand' to 'brand newbie' your opinions are extremely important to us.
From SKR:
Better twist real hard . We'll commit to one National event and a few smaller one class races like we did last month with the Gasser reunion. That was a fun event for us.
We'd like to see other tracks get involved and host events. If your interested contact John or myself. This is a great way to showcase your club, track and drivers in your area.
The armature debate is a good one. I for one would rather see us open it up to custom wound armatures just for the fact that the consistency from one arm to another will be almost identical. We'll see closer racing, you won't have to spend time balancing your armature and they will last longer.
Mean green armatures run great and are inexpensive (around $5) but a good one is hard to come by. I've noticed that you have to go through quite a few to find one that ohms out low/good on all poles, doesn't have a warped com plate and have seen some that already have a loose winding. Let's say you go through 5 of them then you already have the cost for a custom arm.
The initial costs go up but I think it'll be cheaper in the long run.
This is only my view and I would like to hear from everyone that is involved with NTRA racing. We're not saying we are going in this direction, it's just a open discussion and we hope to hear from all NTRA racers.
From JOHN BALICH:
C'mon guys we need to hear from you........weigh in on these and any other issues. Our goal is for NTRA to always be YOUR race group, not ours.
We really need your input in order for us to serve you well.
Thanks
