Taz,
I think you have negatively escalated the conversation which there was no reason to do.
I never took pc's comments as "crying", he was stating the obvious. The more cars and parts you have, the opportunities you have to come up with the best combination or recipe. While it never insures victory, it sure places an advantage to being competitive. That being said work with what you have and learn from the outcome, to me that is the enjoyment. I have 20 cars, but they are useless if I do not take the time to test and switch parts and test and, and..... Then I will come up with my best setup and my 10 year old will throw together a car out of the parts bin and put it to me, has happened more than once.
For this race my kids are going to build all 6 of our cars with my guidance. I was not going to participate because of time constraints, but then I figured why not let them do some testing on the track for a week, let them compare parts and enter what they feel are their best cars. Competitive or not they will learn what they did to get there and what worked the same or different at another track. Win or lose we will all learn something.

Put me down for 2 entries please.
Also my son and daughter would like to enter a 2 cars each. They are not able to register here as they are under 13 and were rejected when they tried to register. If they are allowed to participate, they would like to do so (my daughter is 12 and my son is 10). Please let me me know as we are going to have some runoffs this weekend to see who gets to enter which cars (yes it is a competitive enviornment here).
My daughter's nickname is MadKat and my son goes by SuperCoop and again each would like to enter 2 cars.

As I was clearing out the man cave to layout the foot print for the new track I found some boxes of stuff I had purchased a few years back. This Mead Tom & Jerry Duster has been a long time favorite that I forgot all about. Cannot wait to build it! Boy do I miss the Mead's!

Looking to find NOS or nice used rear rims that came on the Jeep's, Blazer's and Suburban's.
If you know a source to locate or if you have any you would like to sell, please contact me. If you know the original AFX part # for them please contact me.
Any and all help is appreciated.

01/03/2011 Here you go Demon. Feel free to strip it down and repaint it if you want Not perfect but pretty cool. I added your real car #2980 on the front and put in a driver/interior since you need help cutting lights. I'll make you up some of these narrow silly foams that I have on the rear with the GY decals. Hope you like it. Thanks to Hairy Canary for making the Nitro Slots and window rivet decals. Man, what a chore it was to install them (rivets) but so worth the time. Sam, What body is this? Great looking build!

Ninja,
You had touched on the fact that there potentially may only be 1 remaining NTRA host track. Is there a contributing factor behind this? I know there are at least 3 purpose built active tracks running on the east coast and 2-3 here in the midwest and another 2-3 on the west coast. Is it lack of interest to be a host from these tracks, rule conflicts/disagreement, time constraints or maybe a little of each? Not trying to dig up any negative, just was curious.
On top of that there are obviously many home set built tracks up and running.
As stated in my PM earlier I will be more than happy step up for 2013.
Taz i apologize for the thread hijack

From failed experience and working on my 3rd track, invest in the Track Mate timing system. Regardless if you buid the track surface itself on a budget, you can always move the timing system to the next track as finances and space improve. Power supplies are fairly inexpensive and there are tons of options and configurations available these days. Again from failed experience make sure they are adjustable so you can regulate the power as well as install meters on each lane for visual confirmation. Sure you can check the taps with a handheld meter, but for $20 you can make the process allot easier. To me the track surface is what it is and you can tune for and around it. Timing and power consistency are the most important aspects as they dictate how fast, how consistent and how accurate the cars run. Afterall this is what all the racers strive to achieve and base their next run or race off of.
I will be documenting my build on my new track as I go along (pitfalls included) in an effort to help potential new track builders. The track surface itself will come from a current track builder and the timing system will be Track Mate. For power I am still undecided as I really want to use batteries to get the most pure power available as well as leave my options open for lower ohm classes down the road. Otherwise I will run indendent power supplies on each lane as my track will be a little longer being a true 1/64th 1/4 mile.
I am no expert on this by any means and have made many mistakes along the way.

One thing to keep in mind tho, if you're gonna use this setup in an NFC car as currently running in the NTRA 'proxy' racing, I'm not too sure, but I don't think shimming the mags is legal. That would need to be checked in the rules just to be sure. If it's not, the snug fit can be accomplished by just sanding the ends like I said in the prior post. Ron (Bondo) Looking at the current rules, there is no notation regarding magnets.
