Hi Ron, The meaning "Having a Chassis of their own" only means a new set of chassis rules for this class, Armature/Magnets etc...... Scratch built chassis would be interesting and could be a class in the future? The Rat Rods have not gone away and never will. Actually they were one of the last cars raced at the last NTRA event. Nostalgic P/S would be a good choice for these chassis. If we decide to run Altererd with Competition style Gasser chassis then yes it would mean that the same chassis could be used under Gassers, BB/FC and Altereds atleast until we decide if Altereds should get their own chassis Just to let you guys know that there are plans to run a Gasser event and a Rat/Altered event later this year. If anybody has a track and would like to hold an event, get a hold of me and we can make arrangements.

we'd like to hear from more guys on the idea of running altereds. So far it looks pretty good. We will be kicking around the chassis issue for some time.
One possibility for the long term is to have a Sportsman Altered AND a Pro altered that way everybody gets to run this type car. I would wild guess that we might end up with 16-32 sportsman altered and maybe hopefully 8-12 Pro Altereds at such an event. When I say possibility, thats just me offering an opinion, not to imply we are clsoe to deciding in that direction. The internal friendly debate process is really wide open at this stage.
A GOOD problem we have right now, is that there are so many possibilities and things under discussion its hard to get to them all! The idea is to get the FUN to you guys as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Just to add to the Altereds discussion. There are three main types of cars we think of as Altereds. They look something like this: The first image is a classic altered look, and would be more than likely represented by a standard length T Jet chassis Second Image would be an extended wheelbase version of a T Jet. Third Image is a type of car known as a competition coupe. The class included comp coupes, roadsters and sedans. (The Revell Tony Nancy dual kit featured his comp roadster) One issue would be to decide which approach is appropriate. The first two could perhaps race side by side equally enough. The third is a thinly disguised dragster and might be at an advantage. Or............we could allow all three in a "Altered Free For All". Just curious what you guys think. Opinions are free! There will be more pictures of prototypes here, to give you guys a better overall look at the type, for guys that may not be really familiar with them. Altereds still put on a wild show, but look at the traditional style cars and imagine piloting a supercharged nitro-fed dragster thats less than 100 inches in wheelbase! (92 inch minimum at one time.) It puts to rest the notion that "drag racers only go in a straight line."

Would it be possible to have an A & B class using the first two versions as the A class and using the third for the B class. Or another possibility use the first two for the Altered and down the road think about running dragsters where you could include the third version.

I'am ok with the traditional and modern ALTERED'S but the competition coupe is a front engine dragster and really need's to be in a front engine dragster class and not with the true ALTERED class.
