I raced a '70 Duster for 6 years. I realize that the grill is painted on the Pro Mod but it looks different than the one on our car. On the Pro Mod the turn signals look like they are behind the grill. I think that the grill on the Pro Mod is actually modeled after a 71 duster.

back in 1988, I had a chance to buy a 70 duster with a 340 and a 4-speed. It was plum crazy purple with a flat black hood. I passed on the offer because I thought that $4200 was too much money. DOH !!!! It was a really nice car but I already had my GTX. I wish I had bought that car.

Getting close to molding this one. I need to fill in the hood lines. I believe the original was a one piece front end. I put a coat of primer on to see how it's looking. I think I will drop the rocker panels a little and the rear wheel wells a bit. Also for the Ford guys, I'm tinkering with a Mustang P/M.

Nice Rat Rod Wood. Thanks for posting Blue. Here you can see how much I added to the rocker panels and rear wheel wells Sam, This is a great, great tutorial on modifying a body. I'm following it with interest, and printing the thread for my resin casting file. When you add material to reshape the wheel wells and rockers, do you just build it up with Bondo, or do you glue styrene or other backing material to the body and then blend it with filler? Thanks, Rick V.

Thanks I'll use Styrene if there is a lot of area to cover. On this Duster I only used JB Weld then went back and added some red body filler once I sanded the JBW to fill in some of the low spots. You'll see in this first picture that I laid down some tape from the inside. Then I just added JB Weld to the along the tape to a depth that I wanted. Once the JB Weld has set up, just pull off the tape. It leaves a nice straight edge that lines up with the body very well from the inside. From here I'll sand the outside of the body and bottom of the rocker. I might have to change my user name to JBWeldman since we already have a Bondoman

Here is where I'm at. I made a wing out of styrene, added the final hood line down the middle that goes from the edge of hood to the cowl scoop. I'll add some body mounts soon and make a mold without the hood scoop. This way I can do both the blown version with the hood opening and seperate injector and also make the nitrous version that will be a one piece body with a parachute being seperate. The rear end will come up just enough to be off the track when I put the mounts in. This body really will make a great P/M race body because there is a lot of room for tall tires underneath. Still some work to be done on the scoop.
