OK, racers, let's get this party started! I've been spending way too much time on work, and not nearly enough time in the slot car workshop. Well, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now, and next week is gonna be devoted to some quality slot car time. It's my goal to make the inaugural NTRA event at the reborn Lions Drag Strip a race to remember. The crew is working overtime on prepping the track, and there could be a few surprises (hey, it's a race, and anything can happen!). This season finale is going to decide the 2010 NTRA championships. Since RV Racing will sit this one out as the host, I'm calling on all of you Ford and GM guys to turn out and block Matt and Derwood's powerful Mopars before they sweep the points <g>. And you Mopar guys can help Matt and Derwood by filling the fields with Hemis and Max Wedges. So let's get those entry lists filled up. My goal is a 32-car eliminator in every class. Summer's gonna be over soon, and it's time to tune up those toy cars. Test and tune is September 11, qualifying is October 16, and eliminations on October 17. BE THERE! Best, Rick V.

Hey Rick, Just to help make the points race a little more fair, I'll drop my 800 pts from race number 2. Hows that? That should make thing more interesting.

Matt,
As I recall (and I have more trouble remembering stuff every day <g>), the deal on points is that a maximum of three races would be counted toward the championship. I think that's fair because it doesn't penalize a racer or club for hosting a race. (Help me out here, Sam and Ninjatek, have I got that right?).
But since the maximum number of points available depends on how many rounds of eliminations there are, I hereby withdraw my request for lots of guys to enter the NTRA Finals. Y'all stay home, so Matt and Derwood won't be able to rack up those points!
Just kiddin' -- I'm really looking forward to the final showdown at Lions. Who needs a Countdown to One or a Chase for the Cup, anyway?
Cheers, Rick V.

To allow those competitors who have hosted an event a fair shot in the points race the lowest score earned of the four events will be dropped from the final tally. It also allows anyone that may have missed an event to still be in the running.

Matt Initial discussion on this can be found in a thread titled 'NTRA POINTS RACE 2009' www.psychoslots.com/index.cgi?board=skr&action=display&thread=1529I have not found anywhere on the forum that announces the conclusion(s) reached from that discussion. However, as I was taking over the duties of points keeper, John Balich (NTRA Race Director, for those who do not know) sent this to me in a PM. It is possible you do not remember reading it because it may have never been published, but apparently decided on among the event planners. Rick V. as a NTRA event host probably heard about it while event scheduling was taking place. I hope to remove any confusion about the points race(s) by creating a document explaining how points are calculated and any guidelines to be followed. Look for it sometime after T&T but before 'Finals'.

OK...sorry I'm a little 'late' on this...but put me down for an N/FC car. Don't think I can make the test-n-tune, but I will definitely have it there for the race. And..if by some stroke of luck, I do get a Gasser done, when is the latest I can actually enter it? At this point, it doesn't look like it's gonna happen, but if there's anything I have learned from the last two summers, ANYTHING can happen at ANY time! And..if I'm only sending one car, what's the fee? Is it 6 or 7 bux? Ron (Bondo) Lonestar Racing and Resins

But, what matters more is will you car be ready and shipped in time to make the qualifier? $7 for three cars. $1 per additional car. Confirmation included.
If you want insurance then please add that additional amount and specify the amount you are wanting when you send your cars out.

Rick will get you the shipping address info. Above are the entry fees. Looks like 1, 2, or 3 cars; $7.

Hey Rick, I'm not sending any cars for the test. I actually haven't touched them since you were here. I pretty much lost interest in them once we started working on my 1:1 GTX again. I ran them a little tonight but they aren't ready to go. I will have my cars there for the race.

No way that I'm buying that, Matt! I've heard from Little Tony (an always reliable source) that the Ohio Mafia's Mopars are so fast that they don't want to show their hand before the NTRA Finals. Afraid they'll scare away the competition, and they need a big turnout to rack up the points. Just one question: How did you stuff a 506 stroker motor into an HO slot racer? <g> OK, you're on for October. Rick V. Hey Rick, I'm not sending any cars for the test. Hey Rick,
Trailered two Stock, one Gasser, and one Funny Car and sent them your way yesterday. The Gasser busted a traction bar and broke some teeth in the rear end during some test burnouts. The mechanics replaced the rear with whatever was laying around the shop. Had to forego fixing the traction bar due to time.
Hope to make it on time.

Don't worry, the track manager will work overtime to make sure that everyone gets a few test runs on the new Lions quarter-mile. Al, our UPS guy, assures me that he's got the fastest truck in the fleet. Cheers, Rick V. The "Big Brown Truck" picked up my hauler for the cross country trip yesterday.
