He's an idea I've heard of but haven't tried yet, to close up the hole on the drive gear. Use a BB for a bb gun and lightly tap it with a hammer.

Why would you want to close the hole? It wont't go on the armature shaft without a hole. LOL KABOOM

Hey guys, getting back to the sizing of chassis for arm shaft. Tried a round bit from a dremel. Small around size of dot mag, maybe smaller. And spun by hand (fingers) lightly in hole for shaft did the trick. Alot easier than file. Spun bit three,four times, tried fit, repeated and done. When doing either the file or round bit check often for fit. If gear is left on arm, and arm then spun while fitting. It will leave a mark on chassis (almost like polishing). With round bit I just took out enough so this marking no longer appeared. Or just enough so mark di not reappear when checking for fit. Again way easier than file. hope it helps..........PC

I'm running a 4-gear with a MG, (finally got it to sit and spin the way it should.) I like the speed I get at mid track to finish but is there a good way to get more POP at the start? I'm currently using stock gear st up. Any good suggestions? KABOOM

Kbuck, don't know if any gears are available for 4g's. Think most try to replace stock AW crowns with something stronger. Either gear or chassis will probably need some kind of mod. to fit gear. Assuming (oh-oo) that you've changed tires, maybe stretched springs, your getting good long wear marks on your pick-ups, braids have been added (in case this is gonna be a D/S), shunts? Lapping gears will allways help, but might not cure problem. Try playing with magnets, or switching them...matching them could help if you haven't. These cars allways seem to puzzle me somehow. What works for one may not for another, for no apparent reason. Two identical builds may have may have the same or different results. For starts I would try to get better contact with track. I know how to lap gears on the inline cars, how do you do it on the pancake 4Gear motors? Inquiring minds want to know!

Falcon, Same idea as inlines, you want to let the gears kind of polish themselves. Just add some kind of abrasive to them and turn. I like to do whole drives on t-jet types and 4g's. Arm. to crown gear, I partially assemble chassis clip in place (screw also on 4g's). I use silver polish (thick liquid), cover all the gears with it and turn old wheel on axle by hand. Yes, time consuming. But I like doing it by hand so I can feel any rough spots and know when those are gone. Messy, I sit down and do it over an old newspaper watch a movie. Not sure of best way to clean up other polishes, I just run warm water over chassis, plate, gears, seperatly. And let them all air dry. Hope this helps..........PC

Toothpaste wooks good, I like to use Mothers Chrome polish paste. Then to clean it off I hook up jumper leads and stick it in a glass half full of 70% Isopropal Alcohol and run it. Then blow it dry and oil it.

Hey, After destroying several sets of braids and shoes, ( and burning myself more then I care to say) do any of you guys make already braided shoes? I will gladdly pay someone to do me up some. Kbuck

Kieth, I hold the shoe and braid together with needle nose, bend or curl little bit of braid to match shoe. Got tired of burning myself, and pliers help make nice flat result when done. Don't know if you found the posts on braids, but don't use solder-braid (or desoldering). Think more than afew including me were using it. Has flux impregnated in braid and this inhibits flow. I changed over to 1/32 pick-up braid. 3 to 4 tenths faster by switching braids on cars that have been timed, before and after. hope it helps..........Peter

YEP!! Cleans them up real good and seems to break in the brushes. I know what your thinking, it catch fire! Never had one do it. PS: I only put the car about half to three quartes of the way in, all the way in is too hard on the motor.
