Hey guys, I am looking to build a track, but I would like to get some more info and photos of other tracks for reference.
Does anyone have a link to photos of how sensors are mounted in various tracks? Snap together? Routed? Etc? Also, what type of sensors are used? I would like to make something robust. I have programming experience and wiring experience, just really looking for mounting options and what seem to be the best type of sensors for HO drag cars.
Routed tracks - does anyone have a build thread of a routed track or a link to one?
Thanks. -Chris

I've read and heard good things about it and have one on it's way to me now for my track. I like the idea that it is a stand alone system and does not require a computer. But there are drawbacks to that such as it does not support sportsman tree and bracket racing. That was not a big selling factor for me at this point. I ordered the standard system with optical sensors and the drag racing add on. Total was $128. I asked several questions while making my choice and emails were answered well within 24hrs. each time. Hope this helps.

I have a Slot Dragon optical drag timing system which works great off of ambient light. as JJ pointed out, it only gives E.T.s and R.T.s and lane winner. and only the Pro tree is available. but I think for the cost it is a bargain. similar systems can be had from other manufacturers but must be loaded into a PC or laptop and that can add significantly to the cost, even if you already have one, you paid for it at some time. simply drill small holes in the track between the rail and slot for each lane and slowly enlarge with a tapered reamer until the sensor sits just flush with the track. if you protrude them too high, they will catch some chassis and upset the car.

Thanks for the information, I will start digging more. I think I am going to try and find some thru-beam sensors, the photoeyes/cells seem to be too finicky.

It's my understanding that the optical sensors have a sensitivity adjustment for different light levels and have been told they are very reliable and accurate.

That's too bad. I've had excellent communication with him and he was very informative each time I needed to have questions answered. I already sent my money to him and have no reservations about having done so at this point. Good luck.

He may not be quite getting what you are asking. I have communicated with Daniel and always received prompt replies. If I'm getting your question to him correctly, you want to know what you should order and how much it will cost. You will need : You will want to order the system that uses the photo-eye. This sells for $99 (free shipping). To complete the drag strip you will also need the Bondoman Photo-Eye Sensor, This sells for $20 plus $3 shipping: Have no fear ordering from him. Shipping can take up to three weeks. It took only two weeks for my system to arrive. As to performance I have not set it up yet and cannot speak on that. Hope this helps.

To have the 22 foot cable and y-adapter included, along with the main (photo-eye) system ($99) you will need the (photo-eye) Drag Strip Accessory Kit ($29). These two items total $128 and shipping is free. Those two items include everything you are asking about.

I just got my second Slot Dragon drag timing system this week. $128.00 shipped. you order the timing system and request the optical sensors for about $99.00. you also order an extra set of optical sensors with the long cord and the "Y" piece, about $29.00. the price for shipping from THAILAND is reasonable and fairly quick (three weeks). fisherman, I must be frank with you and tell you that some of your posts are confusing to me here and on Hobby Talk. the vernacular you use is unknown to me and might just be confusing Daniel too. I had no problem with him in dozens of emails and I find the Slot Dragon website easy to negotiate and understand. everything you say you have asked him is explained completely on the website. I am not here to put anyone down based on their personal lifestyles and forms of communications, but, blessed be, pray tell, what is a HOLD SHOT? I certainly encourage every person that is interested in slot car racing to seek out anyone else interested and get it on. your mileage may vary. al

I was looking in to getting this but reading more into it and seen this.................... Not compatible with the slower HO pancake style chassis and some older non-magnet 1:32 scale cars.
