I am also starting a couple of new "frankenstein" projects. One is an AW '70 carfitti Mustang that is being turned into a scooped out nitrous Pro Mod (4g). This one has been on the desk for awhile, so I need to get it done. The other one is an early 90's Pontiac Grand Prix that will be another MM/PS body (inline). Stripped both bodies by letting them soak in Pine Sol. I will finish up some of the detail areas with some lacquer thinner and a Qtip. Pontiac will be a casting for Eagle Racing and I might see if he will do the Mustang as well.

More final tuning going on tonight. Stripped the crown gear on the Dream Crusher lastnight. Pulled the magnets out and the car did not like that! Lost some performance and while trying to get that back, I blew the gear. Should've left it alone but nooooooo.......can't do that.....gotta go faster right?? Sometimes these cars are maddening or is it my competitiveness. I think it's both! What it did do is give me a reason to put some new Vincent American Racing rims on it. They look much better than stock and are truer as well. Doorslammers are up tonight......probably my favorite class of all!

Update on one of the frankenstein projects. The Pontiac Grand Prix Pro Stock car is ready for final sanding and then last primer coat. It will be sent to Eagle Racing for casting. This body was one that Robert used to race years ago. He gave it to me to turn into a Pro Stock car of the time period similar to the Thunderbird I did a few months back. I left the body alone except for removal of some of the Stock car stuff like the window netting, rear window bracing, and gas cap. Then I added a scoop, wing, and chutes. I did not put body mounts in. This body can be mounted on a stock type inline chassis of multiple mfg. without modifications. The 70 Mustang Pro Mod is in the works now.

I want to share something that I stumbled onto. A few days ago I was watching a you tube video by Harden Creek I think it was. In it he mentioned using an upholstery tack remover (great tool) for removing Vincent type wheels that do not have a center hole. It's been my experience that screwdrivers and other prying tools seem to mar the wheel, bend an axle, and possibly destroy the wheel. While testing the other night I was using a pair of fingernail clippers to cut a spring and they came apart on me. I picked up the handle part and had an idea for a wheel removal tool.
There was a small piece of metal that bridged between the forks. If you look closely, you can see where it was. I used a diamond cutting wheel on a dremel to remove. An abrasive wheel would also work.
This works surprisingly well....almost like it was made for this purpose. Seems to distribute the pressure evenly which is exactly what is needed. Very easy to make and everybody has an old pair of clippers laying around.

'70 Mustang PM is still a work in progress, but getting closer. In the meantime I had this Hairy Canary '55 PM that was pretty much ready to go. I will be putting the base coat for flames on today sometime. This a sweet body!

Looking forward to seeing what you do with the 55! I have that 55 also but can't find the glass for it. So it's in the "Get too" pile!

Quick pic of the ongoing Mustang Pro Mod build. Still lots of sanding and molding in, but this is pretty much what I had visualized. Going for more realistic look without cutting into the body....such as longer front end.....lowered top....etc. Finally pulled the trigger on some casting supplies. This car will likely be my first casting. I will take it slow and try to get everything right. The only thing I believe I need now is a pressure tank. I've been warned about getting bitten by the casting bug, but it's time. I'm starting to run out of accessories too and I have no supplier for those little jewels. Hairy Canary had some of the best if not the best engines...scoop accessories out there, but Rick is not casting at this time. I am looking forward getting started. No more "one off" builds that would take days to duplicate.
