Good luck with casting cuzzo! As always I am willing to help if you need it. Thanks Robert. I'm sure I will have some questions.

Found this mean green while building/rebuilding my PSO cars. What is wrong with this armature? A quick glance tells me four things........
- Solder connection(s) very sloppy and flowed onto a good portion of the comm. Right on the edge of the brush track. - Comm is off center compared to the shaft. - Comm plate itself is off center on the insulator plate. - Gaps between each comm plate are very wide and uneven. This would definitely not be a good choice for use in.........ANYTHING! It is good for a blank to rewind a custom motor is all.

have you ohmed that arm? the soldering is so sloppy and the wire wraps, where soldered, so bulky that I think that might be a dewind?

Surely has seen better days.

It was 6.2ohm on all three poles. If it's a dewind they didnt take it down very far. Comm is still junk. I've seen off center comms and bad solder connections, but never this many issues with one arm. I was just showing an example that all armatures are not created equal and it goes beyond ohm ratings.

Have to agree with that. I have put 3 new arms in the same chassis and got different results every time.

I have seen similar factory solder jobs.

I have seen similar factory solder jobs. Seems like all of my mean greens have sloppy soldering. Either a big glob or solder runs onto comm.

Cars headed to Smokey Mountain Dragway this morning. Left to right....PSO list car Dream Crusher Mustang, PSO Class car #7 GTX, Super Stock #7 Camaro, Inline Stock #9 Corvette, 2.5 Inline #7 Firebird, and 2.5 Inline #12 Camaro. Hopefully cars will be competitive. Either way I am looking forward to the racing action. Good luck everyone!

Another addition to the shop. Anyone who has checked out the Bear Creek Dragway thread knows that I like to sometimes make my own tools, etc. That is mostly due to budget rather than desire. Nonetheless I needed a vacuum/degassing chamber for the resin casting that I am getting ready to start. Found some reasonably priced ones online for around $115 for what I needed at www.bestvaluevacs.com/. But in looking at them they looked fairly simple to make. I already have a pressure cooker that we no longer use and a good vacuum pump from my HVAC field days. All I needed is some heavy acrylic or plexiglass which I found at freckleface.com/. A 12" x 12" x 3/4" piece cost me less than $30 incl. shipping. I actually had most of the pipe fittings. I drilled and tapped the hole with a drill press and put everything together with thread sealer. I am using a refrigeration gauge hose to connect the pump to the chamber. The pressure cooker gasket is a good one and does a great job of sealing the acrylic to the pot. As it pulls the vacuum it makes the seal better. This works very well. Now I have everything in place to do some casting. First casting is going to be some accessories. Still working on the '70 Mustang PM which will be my first body. Been watching lots of videos, but there will still be some trial and error.

Very Nice work. Reminds me of the basis of Hot Rodding which was to take a factory car and make it run better. I am planning on making my own HO dyno. Everything on the market now leaves something to be desired.
