Great idea Steve! I have seen styrene...piano wire....brass rod....and staples used. I need to do that to my cars. They are starting to sag.

I have found Neo motor magnets in pancake builds to be almost useless in anything over 1 ohm, they will slow it down. I am seeing that with the cars I am working on. The neos are very strong and the cars just haven't responded. Although mY orange FED likes them. Go figure.

I do use the Neo magnets in my Inline unlimiteds with good results but they have under 1 ohm armatures.

all the times I have tried NEOs with arms over 1 OHM, I haven't gotten the performance I desired. and, when using such hot setups, if is always necessary to reinforce every other aspect of the build. unlimited builds are NOT for the faint of heart.

Finally close to finishing these two customer builds. I have had more than my share of problems with the chassis builds and the bodies. Ongoing clear issues are still plaguing me, but maybe I have the problem narrowed down now. I am determined to get it right. But the good news is the bodies turned out good. I was not able to use the urethane like I wanted though. I am dedicating today to finishing everything up and if the 4g Unlimited cooperates that will happen.

Truck came out sweet. Helterskelter decals definitely pop with the white background.

Ran some Unlimited 4g down the track today. I've been testing customer cars and have not run mine so I decided to oil'em up and see what they do right out of the box. I'm very happy with what they ran and I don't think I'm going to do anything more to them. They are both running 3ohm arms.
ThIs ET was my org/wht FED which is running Dash neo magnets. The blu/wht FED ran a .4682ET @ 30.1MPH.

This is the Unlimited that I have been working on. Burned up another motor in testing last week. Need to give the car a good cool down between test runs I think. A race would be no problem, but repetitive runs with the 2ohm builds up too much heat and cooks the windings. Testing went very well today and I finally found what this motor likes....neos. I put a set of Dash neos in it and it woke up. This time was without a body. With the body the car ran.4610ET.
That 60ft is blistering for a 4 gear, but this is without a body. 60ft was .0801 with the body.

That is an extremely quick 60' for a 4G. Mine was in the 1.0 range with similar MPH.

I wanted to get some ideas of how some of you track owners deal with uneven performance from each lane. I will have issues from time to time at Bear Creek although voltage will be the same. Difficult to check lane performance under load, but I know it can change. A less than optimum connection can show good when just checking voltage, but can fail under load. Any tips and ideas are appreciated. Bear Creek will be undergoing a rebuild after the 2020 Texas Nationals and will have power taps to every track section. That should eliminate unequal lanes in the future for the most part. At the moment I have taps on the first and last track sections.

If your having trouble with the pins try placing a shim against the rail and pin both sides of track pieces. Might get you a better connection. Sometimes the pin can be bent just a bit, it pinches better than being straight. You have a max and the pins may not take to being messed with.
I added power taps on my Buddies Max by swapping the round pin for square stock brass. The wire was soldered on to the square stock pin and both sections became energized.
