Thanks Ron and Dave...I appreciate it! Ron I look forward to seeing your builds as always! Dave I will let you know the outcome of the sensor mod on the track. Should be putting it back together today after work so I can start doing some testing. Also Dave...just want to say how cool it was to have my cars run in New Zealand. That is one of the places in the world I would love to visit, but I will probably never get to. Thanks for hosting the race and if you do it again, I will be there.

Finished up the sensor relocation on the track and it turned out pretty well. It was actually easier to mount the sensors in the slot because of the extra plastic ( thickness ) underneath. The sensor is bigger than the slot, but I drilled the hole small and then filed it to the size of the sensor. I used a small amount of super glue to hold sensor in place and made the top of the sensor flush with the bottom of the slot. I cut a hole in the track deck when I built it so that I would have plenty of room for sensor mounting. This mod cannot be done otherwise. Also my lighting is about 8" directly above the sensors which makes this mod possible as well. Still need to get the LED light, but tested what I've done so far. I ran about 15 runs in each lane and then ran runs in both lanes at the same time with regular cars and Top Fuel with no issues at all. I am very pleased so far. The Top Fuel car saw no double counting at all. Very nice modification to eliminate that problem. Daniel at Slot Dragon confirmed that this could be done before I tried it. Here are a few pics of what was done. This is the access hole in the track. It is painted black to help eliminate any reflected light. Have to look closely, but you can see the holes in the slot next to the old holes. Top view. Bottom view.

Finally, the individual lanes after sensors were installed. Need to repaint the start line now. It never was very fancy. Maybe it's time to do something a little nicer.

The Angry Jeff Team is loading the haulers for the short 45 minute run north to Plano and Blacktop Raceway. Been awhile since we've run there.....it's always a good time Looking forward to the race big time!! Overall the cars are running well with the exception of my MM/PS. Maybe I'll get lucky and get a few points out of it. I will be more competitive next year if we run that class again. Helping one of our new racers Darius with some set up and tuning tonight. A little over a day till the race!! Good luck to everyone and LET'S HAVE SOME FUN!!![
Top Fuel entries...both Nostalgia and Modern. and the rest of the Team.

With Summer Nationals over with it's time for some new projects. Starting on a couple of new bodies...a 4gear Impala Gasser and a Pro Mod Nova. Doing some research now for design ideas. Also obtained a Trakmate timing system from Alan at Maple Grove ( Thank you Al ) and just received my laptop today to run it in on. So far it looks like everything is working correctly. I will be installing it in place of my existing timing system. Also obtained an AC unit for my garage this week at a great price....free ( Thank you Darius). I am working toward trying to pick up one of the (2) cancelled events to run in September. It is still in the 90's here in Sept. so the AC will be needed. I will not commit to the race until I know everything is working and in place. I hate to see us lose even 1 event much less 2. So I will be making the effort. Keep your fingers crossed on this.....so far so good. I will be installing the timing system and doing some maintenance on the AC unit this weekend. I will know more then. Updates to come.

What a difference a day makes....after looking at the calendar and the to do list, there is just not going to be enough time to do this race properly and set up correctly.....not to mention crew member schedules, etc. I'm pulling the plug on the race effort. Sorry guys...I really wanted to run it. There are other things going on around me other than this forum too that require my time. I am still going to continue the track upgrades in a timely manner in case another opportunity happens to come up. Thanks for the support.

Here are a few pics of the current projects going on..... Got the bodywork done on the Gasser and getting ready to start on the Nova. First time I've worked with this type of body. It's from Jim's Custom Rod Shop. Very nice! Got the hole cut in the hood for the blower and the wing is ready to attach. Then off to the body shop to blend everything in. Impala is in primer now and ready to block out. Almost time to paint. Still deciding on colors for both cars. Still moving forward on track timing upgrades. Should be complete within a couple of weeks. Had compatibility problems with the computer I was going to run timing system on. Getting that straightened out now. The October race "Battle for the Crown" has been moved from Maple Grove to Bear Creek Dragway. The dates are set for October 18th and 19th ( that is a Fri. and Sat. ). Classes to be run are Street, Pro Street, and Doorslammer. So get the cars ready that you were going to race at The King of the Streets and your Doorslammers that just ran at The Summer Nationals. Looking forward to putting on a great race!!
