Attention in the pits! It's now three weeks to the NTRA Finals at world-famous Lions Drag Strip on November 3-4. It's time to kick the car preparation into high gear. And if you need more motivation, here are some of the prizes that will be awarded.  The Top Eliminators in Gasser and Nostalgia Funny Car and the Best Appearing Car (as determined by the Lions crew) will each win a complete three-volume DVD set of "Lions -- The Greatest Drag Strip." Generously donated by producer Don Gillespie, this video documentary covers the history of Lions from its opening in 1955 to the infamous Last Drag Race on December 2, 1972. The photos and videos of drag racing's early days are stunning, and more than 40 individuals have speaking parts, including the sport’s leading pioneer drivers, manufacturers and key track workers, such as Don Garlits, Ed Iskenderian, Hayden Proffitt, Gas Ronda, Bill “Maverick” Golden, Robert “Bones” Balogh, Carl Olson, Sush Matsubara, Tom McEwen, Pat Foster, Dale Pulde, Don Long, C. Great looking prizes. Those DVD's have some great Drag Racing History. I have volume 2 & 3. Need to get Volume 1. Like the title says Lions was the Greatest Drag Strip. Very cool stuff.

2012 NTRA Finals "Don your mask, . . . pull down your goggles, . . . tighten the strap on your helmet."As the crew fastens the straps of your harness, you wait for those familiar two taps on the helmet. . . . there they are. You then raise your hand to give the thumbs up. The crew as if you have forgotten to use mouthwash this morning runs to the side. You fire up the beast and warm the tires. You once again give the thumbs up after the crew chief guides you into stage position. Now, it hits you that you are in the 2012 NTRA World Finals. Looking to the side you can hardly believe that you are at the world famous Lions Drag Strip. You fix on the tree totally ignoring the guy in the other lane . . . the nerves, . . . the anticipation, . . . the ..."uup! there's the yellow, gotta' go!" Scenarios similar to the one above will play out in the minds of 2012 NTRA World Finals entrants across the country this November. Of course your experience will not be as intense as theirs if you do not have a car in the race, but still exciting. If you're on the list, don't be late. Time to get the transporters loaded. "See ya at the line next week!" -Ninjatek The 2012 NTRA World Finals will be held at world famous Lions Drag Strip November 3-4. The featured classes at the Finals are Nostalgia Funny Cars (13.8 VDC) and Gassers (18.0 VDC). Putting the finishing touches on cars and getting the transporters ready for the trip west. My first race was at Lions last year and I am sooooooo looking forward to having my cars run there again this year. Rick runs a FANTASTIC event. Good luck to all the racers!!
