Hey guys, was wondering what would fly as a FED body. Does the body have to be some type of "sling shot, rail, or top fuel". Or can it be an altered type body. Think it was Taz, that asked about this, and I figured it would be OK. Just want to make sure.

The rules are full of loop holes and we have not really tried to close them, yet. So go ahead and run your altered. I will allow it at my race.

The last couple times I've tried to run my FED it spun the crown gear. There just wasn't enough material on the modified gear for a solid mating with the axle. I think Eagle has the best fix using a brass gear. I didn't have time to get one of those gears so I had to improvise a fix. I drilled two holes in the crown gear with a pin vise 180 degrees apart. I then used some safety wire I had and glued them in the holes using JB Weld. Once it set I used JB again to secure the crown gear and wires to the axle. It seems to be holding well so far.

Hey all, Finally got 8t pinion on LL can. Could not bring myself to do what Rob, pointed out. Filling hole in gear then drilling to fit. Not real confident in my eyes anymore. What I did was drill out the inside of 1/16" brass tube with bit measuring .0395, cut about 1/4" off, slide onto arm shaft and soldered. Spun arm (low power) and used needle file to clean-up and slightly taper end. Hole in pinion was drilled out to .0615 (brass tube measured .0630). Then pressed onto arm shaft. Good tight fit, no problems with gear moving. Time will tell.
Oh JJ, it wasn't just the crown (had laid back teeth), the teeth on stock pinion were 2/3 gone. Thanks again for that. Needed to get over that hump. ....................PC

Looking forward to seeing the progression of your F.E.D. (and others) in 2014. I am starting from scratch.

I have had a few questions concerning Altered bodies. Are they allowed in FED or N/TF. This has been discussed with Ninjatek, JJWallce and myself (Eagle). Since Altereds have been racing since the class began the answer is YES. However that being said it was pointed out that these bodies may have an advantage with less weight. However there is no weight limit in N/TF. My personal feeling is they will not have an advantage. So build those N/TFs and let's have even more fun in 2014.

I love the look of an Alterd as much as a F.E.D. and love mixing to two in Nitroslots F.E.D. class. NHRA & IHRA say if the driver sits centered on top or in front of the rear axle with the engine in front it is then an Alterd. A Front Engine Dragster has the driver seated behind the rear axle. A Funnycar is just a Alterd with a full body. Just a little fun racing facts I thought you might like to know.

Hey all, took down the diameter of front molded wheels to get t/mags closer to track (removed tire portion). Magnets are close now and down-force is much greater. Thinking see what happens at "Atco" before putting wheelie bars back on.
Was looking at last few posts about altered bodies. Have a Super Comp Roadster from Hairy Canary (thanks, Rick). Engine not exposed unless header pipes count. Could take the scoop off of hood and replace with blower. But hate to mess with Rick's, bodies. They sooo pretty!
So how much engine do we need to have exposed?

Hey all, The "Green Fed" (as tagged by,Jeff), is nearing an end of sorts. Once it makes a full pass only a smaller crown is left to try. Any arm/mag changes would be a new build. So yesterday I, picked-up a small can motor made for RC helicoptors. I want to find out what will happen when 27v's are applied to a motor rated for 10k rpm at 7.2 v. So, we all will. Let you know when this one is done and going to an event.

OK, so now the chassis has been modified to hold motor and 20t Bsrt crown (entact), put 8t pinion on shaft.
Will try to.post pics, just got new phone. Have to learn how that works. Not really much to see (just long motor laying on chassis), want to learn to post pics. Now , I can just turn on the phone and be on Nitroslots. A little piece of Heaven.....
Oh yeah, almost forgot. After wiring pick-ups to brush contacts, will try running at increasing voltages while checking for heat. Do not want to burn up brushes. Thats if it even has brushes, don't know. Have not looked inside, that will come when it goes up in smoke at one of our host tracks............lol. Just kidding, but might be inevitable.
