Lowered traction mags, and glued body back together. Race history so far - Pulled wheels at start, added weight to front, pulled wheels at start, added wheelie bars, .6 something sideways pass, then pulled wheels hit tree, retaining wall, and safety crew. That one cracked body under engine.
Right now debating smaller crown gear, stock LL gears in car. Haven't found pinion (8t) that will fit arm shaft on LL can.

Im stuck in a hole. What scale goes with a 4 gear? Would 1/64th or 1/18th scale. Im still hunting down a engine for my rail F.E.D project so I can start building.

Peter you have really hung in there racing F.E.D.s. The race history proves that and I am impressed with a racer that keeps coming back and does not give up. Staying the course with the LL.....ok you need a 8T pinion. Make one, here is how: take the pinion wrap masking tape around teeth to protect, take a tooth pick shave it down so it will fit inside pinion to the bottom, mix up some 5 minute epoxy and fill the pinion cavity using tooth pick, let it set up, now find center of pinion cavity, measure diameter of motor shaft, find a drill bit that is a little smaller and drill pinion out using a pin vise. Now you have an 8T pinion.
If you tell me you have already tried that do it again I have been running those on my drag bikes using LL motors since 2007.

Peter, what size is the motor shaft? If it's 1.5mm try Ranch Design. They make parts for 1/43 cars and have different gears. Taz, go with some thing in the 1/64 scale area, 1/64,1/72. 1/18 is too BIG. Might be kinda cool though, will look like one of the old Zingers!

tazman stuck in a hole? Still looking for a motor? What's the hold up? Crawl out of the hole and buy a motor. Start building that F.E.D. now, because testing these requires some work. Please remember if your not fast at least look good

Oh yeah! Drag-U-La is looking great for pics and the speed is better.Put in some work since it came home... Herman is taken a break and Grandpa will be driving the next race No matter amps or volts my Drag-U-La will hold the track from now on! I could maybe use some of those Eagle Tires for my dragster but hey it's all good. I'll be smack talking with this FED it really does look good now!! Race On....... ...........Doug412

Starting to gather parts together to build my first F.E.D, where can I find the Brush Cups for the 4 Gear chassis?

Hey guys, thanks for the info on the gears. Thought about the epoxy thing before just never tried it. Getting the hole centered in gear has been the cog in the thought process. Eyes are not what they used to be.

Hey Dragfool, Scale Auto has brush cups but no matter what chassis you use them in you will need to drill to fit.

I decided to try something a little different for my second N/TF chassis. Hopefully this will fix any gear problems.

Hmmm...... gotta love the experiments in F.E.D.. We got in lines adapted to 4Gears now we have T-Jet adapted to 4Gear. What's really funny about this class is only true 4Gears have TQ and won races in the finals. I love this class, no telling what you might see from race to race.

Good job Chris! More innovation in the N/TF class. Do you have a track to test on? I would be interested in how it holds up. Keep us updated.

No, I don't have a track to test on. Hopefully this one will be ready for the July race. Need to get an arm, some more brush cups and another pair of Eagle's tires for this one. Also need a different body that will work with the shorter and wider rear end. This is just my solution to the gear problem, the larger pitch of the Tjet crown gear and pinion should help and this allows more room for a wider gear.
