we have our track under construction here in eastern Iowa. We looking at doing some special events, hopefully have things all set for a 2014 debut on the NTRA schedual, but we would like to know if you guys would be interested in an all PROD MOD event? I myself love the doorslammers and am looking to get a PRO MOD 'club' started at our track. We want to run an event for this and another event (possibly the same race weekend) for a class(es) that people would be interested in running. I personally am making a PRO MOD race an event locally also. Input?

Well you better get those Door Slammers built then, cause they run at the NTRA Summer Nationals in July at the Blacktop Raceway. That race will feature all the Pro classes.

HEEELLLLPPPP!!! I love PRO MOD but were are the FORD bodies.Looking for a 56 Crown Vic like the old JUKEBOX and anything other then the late model Mustang. Hey kar2nr I would love to send my cars to Iowa as long as they aren't already needed at a NTRA race.I'm also building a track and hope to host a NTRA race next year but anyone willing can race at my track.

I'm all about the Pro Mods as well. It has been a favorite class of mine since I joined the forum. Phantom I feel your pain!! I am hoping to build 2 new Ford bodies for the event. Got this crazy idea for a "62 Thunderbird PM and a Thunderbolt PM. Pretty sure there are some Ford bodies available from some of our race sponsors. That's where I got mine, but they are not set up as Pro Mods yet. I will do that.

Pro Mod sounds good to me. Are we talking about NTRA T-jets (Pro mod) or something else. Been wanting to run pro mods since joining site but no events as of yet since joining.

Peter I can only speak for Eagle and myself, but I was referring to the 4 gear Doorslammer Pro Mod. That's a good question though. I didn't realize there was another Pro Mod class.

I'm very interested in a Pro Mod class. I too would like to know what kind of chassis this class will be based off. There was not much interest in the original T-Jet Pro Mod class. I'd like to see something like the door slammer class with maybe polymer motor magnets and a minimum 4 ohm rule on the armature? just throwing some thoughts out there.

I'd like to see an unlimited pancake class, similar to the FED but open to any chassis as long as it uses a pancake type armature, Would make a great Pro Mod class and you would probably see a variety of chassises being used.

I thought the 4 gear doorslammer was the Pro Mod class? Am I confused? I would opt for an inline chassis with devorced wheels like the t-jet funny car class.

Thats what I thought too, the Doorslammers were a combination of the Pro Stocks and the Pro Mods. Aren't the Modern Funny Car and Modern Top Fuel cars the ones with the 4 gears and poly mags? (Besides the FED's)

not sure where the confusion is? I simply posted my thoughts on what I'd like to see. Door Slammer has a 5.0 ohm rule and no poly's. With the progression of the classes that would leave F/C with a 3 ohm and T/F unlimited. Like I said, not sure where the confusion is, Kar2 was just looking for input.

Of course I'm interested! I LOVE Pro Mods! The NTRA Doorslammer class was suposed to resemble Pro Mods, Pro Nitrous, Pro Extreme, and Outlaw 10.5 type cars when it was originally created, and is based on a 4 gear currently. I know, Sam and myself were the first two to get it started. I LOVE the idea of the polys and lower ohm arms. Remember, a couple of us here in Texas came up with the name "Texas Outlaw Pro Mods"! . I personally like using the 4 gear chassis. For me, it's easier to work with. For the record, I do cast a 62 Tbird Pro Mod body for a 4 gear chassis. Altho, at the moment, all my molding equipment is packed. I start moving to my new place next Saturday, so got a lot to do in a short time! Im hoping to be all moved in 3 or 4 days. And that's also why I opted not to race in next weeks race in Colorado, nor could I sponsor it. I'm REALLY disappointed! Ron (Bondo)

Ron, hope things go smooth for the move buddy. and also that you've been well.
Pro Mods were what caught my attention when joining site (t-jets), I'm not sure if the class yet remains. Would like to be able to run polys in a t-jet. If gassers became poly that would cover that or perhaps a combining of classes like the Modified sports group. Think the NTRA is stating to lean heavy toward the 4g"s. After reading posts on this thread, looks like all are interested in a pro-mod class. Why the jets have not been run could be just the lack of a host venue, or maybe there are only few of us left that care about t-jets.
Saw in-lines mentioned, and think if we had another in-line class (pro-mods?) it would be a popular one. The MM/PS got a good response. Seems like in-lines would help also as a draw to newbies. Honestly, "kar2nr got me thinking and looks like others also. If pro-mods are going to run, tell me what kind, I'm in.

Does anyone know of or remember in the 80's and early 90's match racers The Wild Bunch? They ran a Pro Mod style race set up before there was a Pro Mod Class and set the first 200mph pass for a DOORSLAMMER!!!(At ATCO RACEWAY Of Course) Late Pro Mod was born from guys like the Wild Bunch and other Top Sportsman racers. What I'm trying to say is I believe Doorslammers and Pro Mod can have there own classes. See for me I joined up with Nitro Slots cause I love building and drag racing slot cars.Alot of the classes are first time builds for me like MM/PS I never built an inline chassis before and I had a blast doing it. Hey I'm even building a track now (ATCO RACEWAY)and it's all in the name of FUN!!!
