Well after a few years without a drag strip, Kim & I decided it was time to jump back into being track owners. Our track will mostly be for our own enjoyment and we will be holding an annual proxy race. We'll still be racing at Drag City USA and support Rick & Diane's program and who knows..... maybe run a series between the two tracks in the future. Here is what our track specs look like so far: - Track Mate DP 3000 timing system; Sensors- Prestage, Stage, 60' ,1/8, Speed, Finish
- Track Mate Power Supply 0-30v 20amps
- Win Lights at finish line for realism
- 2 DiFalco HO Drag Controllers with sensitivity control. Basically talking 0-100ohm capabilities.
Still not sure what we're doing for a track yet. Possibly TKO or building one from scratch with MDF board. It's coming along slowly. I hope to have it up and running in 2-3 months.
Stay Tuned!

Hi Sam, All sounds good. If you get a chance call TKO and tell them what you would like. I sent them a drawing of my track showing all the details and location of sensors etc and all the size of each section. They were very easy to work with and I had my track in very little time. I am very pleased with the track and the way it looks an operates. Using the Trackmate Dp3000 myself and other then the lack of printed user manual It has been flawless. As you know you can build one for less but then add in your time etc. Thanks for kind words on the 64 Falcon Sprint casting. Think I might set it up an an early A/FX class or maybe a Gasser.
Any suggestions on paint brands I do like the candy look.
Alan

Update about Pikes Peak Dragway (name subject to change by opening day). Home renovations are going great! We have a ways to go yet so I went ahead and contracted a track from Elite. I'm going with a HO scale 1/4 mile (15'1-7/8"). Check out their web site and tracks on you tube, very smooth. I'll have the very first drag strip by Elite. I thought about going with a TKO but wanted something different than Drag City USA. Rick and Diane of Drag City USA have bought a TKO drag strip that will be ready by the NTRA Spring Nats. More later........ www.eliteslotcars.com/

Hey Sam, With Pikes Peak as a name the run-off would scare me no matter the distance...... lol. How about a one word name. Something easy to identity with. "Skim'ers" bright, cheery, says it all. Hey just funnin' with you. Can't wait to race. Been using Tamiya (spelling ?) tape you told me about. Works great, thanks again.................. Peter

The final piece to my puzzle has arrived this week. This track is truly bichin' as it arrived packaging was second to none. Everything was screwed down. going to be hard not to set this up instead of tiling the bathroom next weekend

I know how it goes, I've got the materials to build mine but, so far tiling the kitchen, powerwashing the deck and now remodeling the bathroom, have taken priority over the new track. After doing that stuff everyday thats the last thing I want to come home and do too. Looking forward to seeing your track up and running.

Hey Sam, the new track is looking nice. I guess the tile in the bath room looks even sweeter.

more progress..... Thinking about going with a yellow starting area. It looks nice on the dark grey surface. The white retaining walls are styrene that I plan to run all the way down the strip. Off the track surface I'm going to fill in with 1/4" drywall which will make it flush with the track. I didn't want to take up too much space in the basement so I made the table a little bit narrow. I do plan on putting scenery up with the space I do have. Here is some landscape from the PSD that I kept around. Everything is set up loose here just to get an idea of colors. I love the surface on this Elite track. Its very smooth and you can see the cars reflection.
