Hosting a race is a lot of work, the people that do it commit a lot of time and effort to it. With out them there wouldn't be theeries we have. As far as an invitational, I didn't mean it so much to exclude anyone, but more to encourage participation. I was thinking on basing it on participation on the forum, race attendance, hosting of races, end of the year awards and a vote of the members for a couple of spots. Invite 18 or 20 cars with a 16 car qualifying field. Run in conjunction with another class that all could participate in. I'm just throwing ideas out there and maybe I'm getting a little off track, but I'm just trying to make it fair to everybody.

Thank you all for your comments. I have complete faith and trust in current Racemasters and track owners. I agree with Eagle, TGM2054 ,and Phantom it's up to us to run a fun and fair race. Jeff, I don't won't NTRA to go backwards. It is the strongest I've ever seen it! My question was just that, a question. I'm not trying to change any rules. Dave I don't want that either, but as far as this subject goes I don't think anything short of not allowing Racemasters to race is going to make people happy. I have absolutely no problem with Racemasters competing in their own events....for the record. But I have been listening to these and other comments since I ran my first event and was allowed to compete. This is the first time I've heard limiting the events a state can run though. No names are ever directly mentioned, but it's pretty obvious in what direction some of the comments are directed. I am looking forward to another great Kiwi event and have no problem with you participating. I just want to take my name out of the hat on this subject.

Hey guys, I thought that the idea of adjusting point totals so no disadvantage or advantage would be had by hosting or not a way to make everyone happy.
Jeff, I don't want to see anybody not competinig for any reason. I had the thought that if RM's competed in their events but took away no points and this was compensated for by others dropping points or results, then their could be no complaints. But you are right, there's always someone. However if events were run as I descrbed, or if in some such fashion. Then anybody that finds fault should be elsewhere. I can not think of any other way to keep everybody running, have no advavtages gained, and do away with or keep complaints to an absolute minimum.
Tom, an invitational along with or in conjunction with another race is a good idea. We spoke not long ago about team events. My idea was that different types of events would be intresting for all. Was.not trying to be critical of the idea, just trying to help it along. I really like the aspect presented when somebody new wants to race. And either they sign-up, or are told thats all they have to do to get in. It presents a friendly all are welcome part to the site and races.
Think that RM's competing and removing speculation (for the most part) would not be hard to accomplish. It does seem that most members here are either for or against RM's competing as things stand. So why not a little change, so all can be on board.
People throwing out ideas is just that........ideas...... ideas that will need discussion to make them work. Nobodys ideas should sway another from their point of view. But ideas might spark a thought in another as to a better way.
............. Peter

Jeff Hey Jeff, can't agree with you that its the only way. I really think that RM's participating, but not taking points, and this being compensated for is the answer. RM's participating but not taking points would keep things on an even keel. In that nobody would be taking away more points than they normally would if all were competing. If an RM won their own event, took no points for the event (compensated for), and the rest of the field took away points for their performance (elimination wins) then no advantage in afew more points would be given to anyone. C'mon buddy, don't give up on this one. The only way to get things right is with ideas on how to from both sides of the fence. ....................... Peter (check PM)

I think Peter is on the right track. Someone above mentioned its easy to win on their own track. I'd say most would agree with that. Just throwing this out there as a suggestion so here goes. Why not drop two of each competitors lowest points races at the end of the year and only allow 2 events max to be held in each state for each year? Don't allow the race masters to race their cars except for match racing at their own event. This would allow the hosting track guys to stay in the points race. There would most likely have to be the same amount of classes at each race for this to work. This would also tighten up the points race. Like I said just throwing it out there to keep the conversation going. I like the idea of 2 throw away races meaning in a 13 race season you take the best 11 for points total. This could also help racers that can't make all of the events to stay in the points chase. Rick aka Hairy Canary's race season is best 5 out of 6 in the 2014 NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series.

I don't think limiting how many races can be held in a state is the perfect answer. If we had more venues than we do maybe but not right now. Peter I was just trying to explain my thought. I didn't think you were being critical. It's all good.

Just catching up on some posts here. I don't think 2 races per State is perfect either, it was a starting point for bringing up dropping the 2 lowest points races so that the race masters could stay in the points battle. What came to mind was the 2 events that were already held in NJ, 2 TX races (1 JJ/ 1 Eagle) and with the build of my new track there will be 2 proxy races in CO next year (Drag City and Pikes Peak Dragway). None of this discussion should make anyone feel pointed out, its merely a discussion and not an argument. I'll race no matter what is decided, If I choose not to run at my home track(s) then who really cares? This is a small hobby that will eventually die out after our generation so I'm all for promoting what we have to keep us enthusiast going and hopefully pick up some more along the way. Is the NTRA perfect? no..... that's why I think these discussions are needed so everyone can voice their ideas in hopes of bettering it.

In reviewing recent posts it has been suggested that ideas be voiced. Keep in mind this is an idea and by no means is meant to make massive changes to Nitroslots or any of the current class rules. Hopefully there maybe a nugget or two of value that can be combined with other inputs.
For ease of explanation I will establish the following categories: Basic, Advanced, Exotic.
Basic In this category you will find 4 gear for Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock. Simple rules such as truing of tires and wheels, lubrication, lapping of stock gears, rear tires can be changed etc. Nothing more then a stock off the shelf car that is readily available and cheap. To this the X-traction could fall under this. I believe this would promote Nitroslots as it is a straight forward catagory with no frills and would DRAW NEW MEMBERS because of the price.
Points awarded
Advanced This category would bring in such classes as the Gasser and MM/PS. I would imagine there are others but the key here is a chassis that permits more advanced modifications such as armatures of a certain resistance, braids, shunts etc. In short using current rules.
Points awarded
Exotic This category would recognize the remainder of classes such as the FED and others.
No Points awarded - Bragging rights only!
Keep in mind the above is an outline and needs adjustments!!
Now for the races.
Each track owner that submits to host a race MUST run a least one of the Basic categories. More if they would like. Again this promotes Nitroslots for the reason stated above. If the track owner wants to run an Advanced and or Exotic category along with the basic then GREAT!
Only one event per year per track. If a track owner wants to run a separate Exotic event for fun or do some grudge racing then perhaps that can be scheduled in. Because the Advanced and Exotic category requires power supplies and equipment that will handle these races events could be limited but a least basic categories will be abundant.
At the end of the racing season and after all the awards are handed out approx two to three weeks later a poll will be ran. This poll will be made available to those who raced in the season no matter how many events they entered. What will the poll determine you ask??
Will Racemasters be permitted to race in the next racing season!
OK - I am done - I hope there is a little bit of positive to this. Keep in mind this is only an idea. It has to start someplace.
Regards - Alan

Sam, no quote thing. You said who cares if you race. I DO - I DO - I DO ! If I should ever get to the fnal round at one of your events, always hoped you would be in it. Truth is I'd rather face an RM in t he finals than anyone else. Well as long as nobody else is faster. You know, king of the hill thing. So how do I ever get to beat you on your own track....... lol.... if you won't race............ AARRRRRGH ........ Peter

Hey Alan, Very, very slimilar ideas for the classes that a few of us have talked about. Thought the same basic rules could be applied to every chassis we race only thing that would have to be specific to a chassis is tire size. Was thinking the same as you, 3 classes. Sam pointed out 4 would be better, and after thinking about it I do agree.
Think something like this is coming, it has sort.of been hinted at. Hope so too ! Peter

Here's an idea...how about we just go back to the way it used to be. Racemasters are not allowed to race their events and fewer races per year on the schedule....then call it good. Much more simple. There is only 1 state (Texas) that I am aware of that runs more than 2 events a year and I thought we were contributing by running more races. My desire to race in my events has effectively been squashed now. Just wanting to have fun and contribute....no shady antics here. I will only run NT/F from now on (as long as it is allowed). I have put too much time and effort into that to not run. All of these special rules, etc. Isn't going to solve anything. Somebody is still going to complain as long as it is allowed. Just change it back to the old days. I agree. We should stop reinventing the wheel here. Race masters who are gracious enough to host a race are greatly appreciated. I have mixed feelings about home track advantage. In any form of racing there will always be someone faster than you that come’s along. So if a race master has their car tuned to their track there is always a possibility someone will come along and be faster. If race masters want to know how their car fares with others on their track then race the winner of the event as an exhibition race. On the subject of limiting races per state I simple say bad idea. It has taken many years to get as many tracks on the NTRA circuit. Do not jeopardize it now. I can remember a time NTRA only had a couple host tracks. I would not want to experience those times again.

Hey all, we started talking about this around the same time as rule restructure was discussed............. the rules were handled via PM's , and now we wait for them to be formatted.
The RM competing thing never got any further though......... and nothing was resolved. Think it should be........ we discussed adjusting points to resolve this.
My comcern about this stems from those not belonging to the site........ I often try to explain proxy racing to people and when I could tell prople that home track racers do not compete . But only run the races , everyone has the same reaction........ THAT POINT MAKES SENSE TO THEM !
It is not a question of how any members might feel about it. But what makes sense to those looking in and thinking of possibly joining in.
If we resolve this then all should be palatable to current members. And even those just looking in.......... might even help membership grow.

Peter, have it your way count me out. Don't understand - thought this issue would also be resolved before year was out........ just looking for solution....... Two sides to this...... apparently I'm the only one in the middle....... want to see everyone compete & everyone be happy about it. Forget it , I'll drop the subject.......

my opinion racemasters should be allowed to run because of all the opening of the cars when they come in,making adjustments, running qualifying, posting results, and video presentation, and 100 other things that it takes to run a race they should be able to have some fun also.
