What are your feelings on Racemasters competing at there own race? I am not aware there were any rules regarding this? I am competing in 3 NTRA classes this year. Two of these classes are to be raced at Voltage Valley in June. It would be a bummer not to get any points but I'm happy to step aside and miss the race if that in the best interests of Nitroslots/NTRA. Your thoughts please?
Cheers Dave.

Personally I don't have a problem with it. Besides I think a racemaster doesn't really have time to make sure their car does well. We're just doing this for fun anyways.

Hey Dave, I have mixed feelings about this. There are things about it that I find worrying. At the same time being excluded from gaining points in a class that a RM might be competing in ........... would definitely be a handicap, as for that season. I think the type of class running may have something to do with this. Not sure, others should know.......... RM's have run at their own events already this year .............. hate to travel half way around the world and not get a shot at the "King of the Valley".

TGM2054 could not have said it any better. At the Blacktop it is all about the race. We do our best to put on a great race. I enjoy helping others and when they do well it makes me feel good, that is fun. I trust our Race Masters. We may disagree from time to time and even get upset. The bottom line is we have some fine people that give their time and effort so we all can have a fun race. I'm talking about all of the NTRA racers not just Race Masters. No racers no race.

Curse of the Hearse 2 is still on.. I feel it's a different kinda GRUDGE race!(Not for POINTS) Hosts that win at their own tracks well It is easy to win your own race! Let's see those same cars win somewhere else and then we'll all know what's up.. but if they don't win then Race Masters should get suspended for a race or two..Just sayin' Maybe? My opinion! I'm not trying to stir things up cause my hobbies have changed this year with the scooter drama, UGH! Trying to get cars ready for Rocky Mountain Spring Nationals, hoping to make it in for that one.. First I would have to say that I race for fun and not points so if I was asked not to enter my own race I was hosting I would be fine with it. Second I feel we have a great group of racers and host and I really like seeing everyone race in each event. The racers make the event fun and the more the merrier I say. I would be willing to race the whole season without points just to race as many races as I could (since I did host 2 events in which I entered the Pro classes).

Hello Dave, You asked and I will log my response.
I am against it. I will not go into details other then this surfaces on a somewhat regular bases. I would think that would be reason enough but then again I have not been at this very long. I have seen things occur at races that could raise questions in some peoples mind. I have attended many proxy races in other menus so it is not limited to just Nitroslots and this great group .
Some state that all this is to have fun which I agree 100%. If that is the case then not racing to obtain points should not be an issue. To me the race master and crew have taken it upon themselves for others to have a good good time.
I can only speak for myself but when both my tracks get back on the circuit nor I or the crew will race.
This is strickly my opinion and yes the flames will most likely start !
Regards,
Alan

Hey guys, Reguardless of the reasons for participating or not. We all seem to be on one side of the fence or the other reguarding RM's participating at their own events.
Would seem the best thing we can do is find a medium. If no point totals were kept, would it mater to anybody who ran at an event ? BUT, the points, season totals and awards do lend an aspect of fun. That I, and I'm sure others would miss !
If the way points are awarded were different. Maybe both camps could be happy. If RM's participated in events, but took no points for the event. And every racer not hosting had their lowest points from any race deducted. The concern over point totals would be lessend.
Would a points average instead of total be a way of compromising ? Still trying to figure this out......... maybe, same drop a race.
All the tracks we run on do or do not have the power requirements for all the classes we race. Therefore limiting the number of tracks that a.give class might be run at . If the voltage requirements were made simpler, say 13 - 18 - 22 for all the classes we race then this would not be an issue. Any class could be raced at any track and the need for a given class to be run on a given track eliminated.
Another way to eliminate the quandary of hosting and competing is to not host events for classes one wishes to compete in. Simple but effective. As things stand now with voltage requirements this would probably cut down on the number of races for a few classes of cars.
Wish I could put my finger on a button and fix this, but we really should be able to figure out a way to get both camps singing round the fire on this.

I think Peter is on the right track. Someone above mentioned its easy to win on their own track. I'd say most would agree with that. Just throwing this out there as a suggestion so here goes. Why not drop two of each competitors lowest points races at the end of the year and only allow 2 events max to be held in each state for each year? Don't allow the race masters to race their cars except for match racing at their own event. This would allow the hosting track guys to stay in the points race. There would most likely have to be the same amount of classes at each race for this to work. This would also tighten up the points race.
Like I said just throwing it out there to keep the conversation going.

I've seen it mentioned before but do not remember. What type of races are RM's allowed to participate in ? Believe it has something to do with the class divisions, pro, comp and so ?
Interesting what, Sam said. Drop 2 and RM's don't compete. If one of the 2 dropped could be RM's event all would seem even. Only 2 events per state would create .............. a waiting list ? Do we not have 3 tracks in TX. Instead of this, host tracks that hold more than one event could be required to have different classes at each event.
As everything stands right now, I see the reason for RM's not competing simple, continuity ! HOWEVER, I would not like to see one less car than possible at any event. In truth, no win would ever give me a greater sense of accomplishment than one that came against a host at their event. Being able to take Sam, with a MM. Or Jeff, with a FED. On their own track, now to me that's doing something. So really I'd prefer to see all racing at every event. But without some compensation over points this will always be a controversial subject.
Sam, picked right up on what I touched on earlier. If MORE MEMBERS JOIN IN with just a thought on this. That one thought could lead to a solution that make all content. NO TIME TO BE SHY.........C'MON SPIT IT OUT......... WHAT ARE YOU THINKING ? ? ? ......... Peter

I like Sam's idea of dropping a race or two. Some participants are just great at certain classes, once in a while somebody comes out of no where and knocks them off, it's racing. I've mentioned that when my track is back up and running I'd like to host an invitational race, part of the criteria to be invited is going to be hosting a race among other things, maybe we could have a race just for the racemaster's to compete in to make up for the points lost by hosting. The way I look at it is, if I trust a person enough to send my cars to race, I trust them enough to be fair and honest. Most all of us are adults, well that's probably what our ID's say.

Hey Tom, know what's on my ID, lol........ but when does this adult thing kick in........ couple of things come to mind about invitationals....... such an event would be the first (I think), since the NTRA began to exclude any individual for any reason........ and if such an event were for RM's and only RM's the field would not be a large one.........we talked about having team races........ if RM's picked teams to compete in match races the invitational thing would be covered and if done as a side note all could still get in on some racing the same weekend.
Maybe something profound will come before morning. But untill it does, I'll keep trying to think of something. Hope everyone else does to and the answer should be forthcoming. ............ Peter

Here's an idea...how about we just go back to the way it used to be. Racemasters are not allowed to race their events and fewer races per year on the schedule....then call it good. Much more simple. There is only 1 state (Texas) that I am aware of that runs more than 2 events a year and I thought we were contributing by running more races. My desire to race in my events has effectively been squashed now. Just wanting to have fun and contribute....no shady antics here. I will only run NT/F from now on (as long as it is allowed). I have put too much time and effort into that to not run. All of these special rules, etc. Isn't going to solve anything. Somebody is still going to complain as long as it is allowed. Just change it back to the old days.

I think RM's should be able to race at their own event. Not sure but what is the percentage a RM wins their own event? There is an advantage racing on own track but just like in other events outside of slot car racing there is always some sort of home "field" advantage. Sounds like we need an official poll to tally the votes.

Thank you all for your comments. I have complete faith and trust in current Racemasters and track owners. I agree with Eagle, TGM2054 ,and Phantom it's up to us to run a fun and fair race. Jeff, I don't won't NTRA to go backwards. It is the strongest I've ever seen it! My question was just that, a question. I'm not trying to change any rules.
